Visitors in their 20s and 30s flock to this spot because of the good value, and there may be some amount of partying on the weekends, though nothing egregious. Tour groups also frequently stay here, and the hotel is also popular with Japanese tourists and retirees. The large, two-story lobby features a fishbowl atrium, bold, graphic wallpaper, silver-hued support columns, and asymmetrical red leather couches.

The hotel sits just north of the main drag at Surfer’s Paradise, one block from the beach. It's near buses and trams, several of which stop within two blocks of the hotel (the 705 for Sea World gives direct access in 15 minutes). There is an electric bike rental shop just across the street from the hotel and there are many shops and eateries in the immediate area. Bus number 700 stops two blocks away and takes 45 minutes to reach the Gold Coast Airport.

All of the 10 different room types here have some degree of aesthetic panache, owing to the streamlined furniture with mid-century modern inspiration -- mainly the wood laminate headboards with metal trim and retro desk chairs. Otherwise, the rooms are generally plain, with gray wall-to-wall carpeting, older models of desktop flat-screen TVs, and generic tiled bathrooms with shower/tub combos. All rooms are air-conditioned and come with hairdryers, patios with deck furniture, irons, kettles, and safes. Minibar items can be requested from reception. Suites generally have living areas and dining tables in addition wet bars with mini-fridges.

Three side-by-side pools -- one of which is heated -- sit in the shade of the massive building tower next to a couple of tennis courts. There's also a pool bar. The hotel's business center has computers and a printer and there's a cafeteria-like buffet restaurant outfitted in bright primary colors. Room service is available, for a fee. Other features include a day spa and while there is on-site parking, it costs a nominal fee. Wi-Fi also costs extra.
