A restored historic home with a cream facade and green shutters, Boutique Hotel Trevi has fresh coats of white paint and modern updates like elevators, but it retains most of its old-fashioned character. Its small, glass-doored entrance opens to interiors adorned with classic gold-framed Italian paintings and a vintage wooden front desk, evoking a bygone era. Typical of most European boutique hotels, almost everything about this one is small, from the three tan velvet armchairs making up a tiny seating area in the lobby, to the narrow corridors and stairwells. Lounging or leisure spots on the property are scarce, and there’s not a lot of features or things to do on-site. Still, the quaint and romantic property draws plenty of couples and small families.

Just around the corner from the famous Trevi Fountain (a minute's walk away), the Boutique Hotel Trevi sits in a bustling city center location, one of its biggest assets. It's ideal for anyone wanting to be within walking distance to many of Rome’s major tourist sites. The Pantheon and Spanish Steps are seven- and nine-minute walks away, respectively, while the Piazza Navona is 12 minutes away on foot. The Colosseum is slightly farther, a 20-minute walk away, but public transport can get guests there in 11 minutes. Several bus stops are within five to six minutes away on foot, and it takes 11 minutes to ride to Rome’s Termini train station. A 20-minute ride on the bus can also reach St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums, and the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. Fiumicino Airport is 22 minutes by public transport, or 16 minutes away by car.

Guest rooms at the Trevi blend both contemporary and vintage furnishings, with sturdy, modern beds framed by antique tables, urn-shaped lamps, and gilded mirrors. Hardwood floors and pale rose-hued walls help make the spaces seem bigger, but the 204-square-foot Single Rooms still feel particularly small. Double and Triple Rooms, with one double bed or a double plus a single bed, are more comfortable. Quadruple Rooms and Suites have additional bedding options, like sofa beds, that can sleep up to four people, along with much more seating space. While interior-facing rooms have no view to speak of, they are quieter than street-side rooms, although those come with the perk of looking out on to terra-cotta rooftops. Rooms on higher floors have the bonus of small balconies. Accessible rooms are available on request for guests with mobility issues. 

In-room amenities are solid, including safes, work desks, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and air-conditioning. Well-stocked minibars are a pleasant surprise, but coffee- and tea-making facilities are missing in lower-category rooms. Trimmed in black marble, bathrooms are equipped with hairdryers, toiletries, bidets, and shower/tub combos with handheld showerheads. However, guests have reported that several fixtures, like toilet flushes, showers, or tiles, are broken or worn. 

Feature lists tend to be short at European boutique hotels, and the Trevi is no exception. The biggest drawbacks are a lack of bar or full restaurant, providing meals. However, there is a rustic (if slightly dated) dining room serving breakfast. The spread, while entirely cold, is included with room rates and varied, including bread baskets, cereal canisters, fresh fruits, cheeses, sliced meats, and yogurt, along with tea and coffee. Breakfast can be delivered to guest rooms for free, which can be a plus when the basement dining room gets stuffy and crowded. 

While there is no formal business center on-site, printers and fax services can be requested at the 24-hour front desk, which also supplies a larger safe deposit box. Ironing and laundry services are available as well. Wi-Fi throughout the property is free. Note: There is no on-site parking.
