Bottom Line

Hotel Diocleziano is a small, 35-room hotel two blocks from Termini Station, but tucked away from the chaos on the narrow Via Gaeta. Amenities include a small fitness center with a sauna and free soft drinks from the in-room minibars, which are replenished daily. While the rooms are comfortable, the overall atmosphere is a little underwhelming and the decor lacks character. Deluxe rooms have balconies and views overlooking the Diocletian Baths. The nearby Welcome Piram Hotel is more elegant and rates are often lower.

Hotel Diocleziano

Scene

Classic, small hotel with simple decor

The small, quiet lobby and reception area have a simple and classic atmosphere, with gray fabric sofas and a small flat-screen TV over a wooden table filled with paperback books. The breakfast room is spacious and bright with large glass mosaic on the ceiling, hanging tapestries, and a bar area with green banquettes. From the terrace of the only deluxe room on the top floor there’s a beautiful view of the Baths of Diocletian and the cloister of the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli. The clean rooms have a chain hotel vibe, and while overall it’s a nice, well-run property, travelers who want more frills and style might be disappointed.
