The family-owned Hotel Giulio Cesare is housed in a 19th-century patrician villa with a grand entrance that features gold ceilings, large columns, and statues. The public areas are full of Old World details and several authentic Louis XVI pieces decorating the spaces. Many murals are painted on the ceilings and walls as well. One of the small lobby seating areas is crowned with charming vintage stained-glass windows and a beautiful fireplace, while the other has pale blue and red antique furniture with tapestries on the wall and gorgeous hanging chandeliers. Colorful yellow wallpaper lines the walls of the lobby bar furnished in tall wood bar chairs, detailed gray tile, and a splendid hanging light fixture. The breakfast area is modern yet classic with red tablecloths and light fixtures, carved-wood chairs, and crown molding, plus centerpieces of potted greenery. There's a lovely outdoor garden with metal chairs and tables surrounded by plants, shrubs, and flowers. The rooftop terrace also provides some greenery as well as fantastic city views.

The Hotel Giulio Cesare has a magnificent central location in a busy area of the Prati district, surrounded by shopping and historic sights. The Piazza del Popolo can be reached in about 10 minutes on foot, while the beautiful Villa Borghese with its many museums and attractions is about 15 minutes away. The nearest metro station, Lepanto, is two blocks away and there are tram and bus stops serving several lines a short walk away as well, which give easy access to many other top sights including the Spanish Steps (10 minutes away via metro), Castel Sant’Angelo (13 minutes), Trevi Fountain (15 minutes), and Vatican City (15 minutes). Both the Leonardo da Vinci International Airport and Ciampino Airport are a 30-minute drive.

Rooms are individually decorated in a period style and range from economy options to quadruple rooms for families. Rococo headboards, neutral tones accented by royal blues, and mid-tone wood furniture make the rooms feel charming, though the decor could feel stodgy to some. Crystal chandeliers or vintage light fixtures hang from the ceilings, and some rooms have balconies with delightful garden views. All rooms have minibars (though these are lightly stocked), flat-screen TVs, electronic safes, free newspapers, and Wi-Fi, but there are no coffeemakers available. Marble and ceramic tile decorate the pink or tan traditional bathrooms, which have heated towel racks, magnifying mirrors, bathrobes, Frija toiletries, and shower/tub combos or small walk-in showers.

The hotel offers a tasty free breakfast, which includes eggs, frittatas, bacon, cheeses, pastries, fruit, and yogurt. There's no full restaurant, but a lobby lounge/bar area serves wine, cocktails, and beer. There's room service, but it's only included with certain rooms and has limited hours.
