Residenza Cellini is a small, family-run boutique located in a former 19th-century palace with an authentic European atmosphere. Guests enter the main door of the building, then proceed to the third floor, where the hotel is actually located. Hallways and rooms are traditionally furnished (feeling slightly dated), and accented with flowers, draperies, glossy floors, and antique leather tufted armchairs. The breakfast room and terrace are both cozy spaces that have a warm and welcoming atmosphere, but they are small with only a few seats.

Residenza Cellini is located approximately three minutes away from Piazza della Repubblica, the Repubblica metro station, and a handful of bus lines. The Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, designed by Michelangelo, is one of the sights right by the hotel and is less than a few minutes' walk past Repubblica. It’s in the midst of the hustle and bustle so streets are neither quiet nor empty. The Colosseum is approximately a 25-minute walk away. Getting to the Spanish Steps and the nearby boutique-lined shops of Piazza di Spagna is easy with the MEA line towards Battistini. Conveniently, this line towards Battistini runs across the Tiber River and over to Vatican City.

The rooms at Residenza Cellini are tastefully decorated with hardwood parquet floors, elegant moldings, and handsome wood furniture (though patterned bedspreads may not suit all tastes). Ample walking room, clean, cozy Italian sheets and towels, and beds with orthopedic mattresses topped with memory foam make the rooms all the more special. Modern amenities are limited to air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are clean with tubs or hydro-jet showers, bidets, and heated towels racks. Rooms on the fifth floor have twin bed set-ups and balconies, but the views are of residences and back streets.

Considering the size of the hotel (just two floors), it's not surprising that there is very little in terms of amenities. Residenza Cellini lacks a gym, spa, and parking lot. What it does offer is a computer station with Internet access, concierge services, free Wi-Fi, and a breakfast buffet; there are pastries, eggs, meats, and cheeses alongside an offering of beverages in the dining room. Guests can relax on the terrace, which is not open-air but does provide extra seating when the dining area is over capacity.
