Colorful and welcoming with an eclectic array of artistic furniture, photos, and paintings, The Beehive has 12 rooms, including dormitories with several bunk beds, private rooms with sinks and shared bathrooms in the hallways, and separate apartments complete with private bathrooms and kitchen facilities. The breakfast room, with its chalkboard displaying the daily specials and events, doubles as a small pub open to non-guests in the evening. There is a common kitchen area with a large table and Internet corner, a lobby with a cushy couch running along the wall, and several books to browse. There is a cool private garden in the back with a couple of benches and coffee tables -- it's surrounded by foliage and  an old, beautiful tree at its center. This spot largely attracts young, budget-minded travelers who enjoy a community-focused, hostel-style property.

The Beehive is within a five-minute walk of Termini train station, which connects to the airport in about 30 minutes, and is surrounded by restaurants, shops, bars, and cafes. The Repubblica metro station is right down the street, putting Rome's major attractions, such as the Spanish Steps and the Colosseum, within a half hour's reach.

The Classic Rooms, which are private with sinks and shared bathrooms in the hallways, are decorated in vibrant colors with orange and red curtains, built-in wardrobes, cabinets, desks with chairs, and plush, comfortable, queen-sized beds. The Sweets are similarly decorated but have small private bathrooms with sinks, stand-in showers, and air-conditioners. The Hive rooms are the multi-bunk bed dormitories -- quite basic with six beds and lockers for backpacks and storage. The Other Honey rooms are shared apartments about 10 minutes away with private rooms, shared bathrooms, a common area, and a kitchen. Free Wi-Fi and hairdryers are available. There are no TVs in the guest rooms.

The Beehive Cafe is open for breakfast daily, serving a variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes, homemade bread, and coffee, but breakfast is not included in the room rate. The cafe doubles as a pub and lounge later in the day, hosting poetry readings and social events inside and in the private garden, which is a fantastic place to relax with a book. There is also a reading lounge and Internet corner. The shared apartments come with a kitchen equipped with stove-top burners and an oven, and plenty of dishes and cookware.
