Bottom Line
The Delta King is an old river boat turned hotel with a giant, red, rotating paddlewheel. It's moored in the Sacramento River, in the center of Old Town, and provides excellent access to a number of historic sights, including the Railroad Museum and the Crocker Art Museum. Guests have commented that the rooms are full of charm and also comfortable, but that they can get a lot of outside noise at night.

Early 20th century restored paddleboat set in the heart of Old Sacramento
The Delta King has a bustling atmosphere, particularly on the weekends. The three-story boat dates to 1927 and is moored in pedestrian-friendly Old Sacramento. Every floor of the Delta King is encircled by a large deck with seating and there are historic photos related to the boat’s history in the various common rooms.
Location
In the middle of Old Town Sacramento
The Delta King is situated in the center of Sacramento's main tourist area, Old Town (or Old Sac), known for its distinctive Gold Rush architecture, souvenir shops, and restaurants. It's within walking distance of the California State Capitol building and modern-day downtown. It's a five-minute walk to the Railroad Museum and only about 10 minutes to the Crocker Art Museum. The airport is a 15-minute drive away, or about 40 minutes on public transportation via a single bus line.
Rooms
Small and quaint, but clean and well-maintained
The cozy, carpeted rooms here don’t have a lot of frills, but do retain a certain amount of charm. Bathrooms are small, but some have old-fashioned pull chain toilets and pedestal sinks. Many guests have noted that the floors in the rooms slant enough to be noticeable, and that while riverside rooms are more scenic, on hot summer afternoons the city-side rooms get more shade. All rooms have air-conditioning, which can act up at times.
Features
Two restaurants with lots of seating, as well as meeting rooms
Many guests have had great things to say about the breakfast here, which is included in room rates. It's served in the Pilothouse, a formal, wood-paneled dining room in keeping with the historic nature of the property. While the Pilothouse is open for all three meals, the other on-site restaurant—Delta Bar and Grill—is open only in the evening. The hotel has modestly sized meeting rooms for business purposes, free Wi-Fi, and not much else in terms of facilities.
