Built in 1938, the Rest Haven Motel couples a nostalgic, homey vibe with a friendly and inviting atmosphere. White and trimmed in nautical blue, with a big "Motel" sign, check-in window, and inspirational homilies dotting the hotel, the property plays on its past. A highlight is the lovely backyard courtyard, with a mosaic-tiled table and chairs under an umbrella. A small lawn holds white, cushioned patio furniture. Flowers and garden decorations make it a lovely spot to relax with a book and get some sun. 

The Rest Haven Motel sits on a quiet residential street lined with small, beach-style homes behind a Jack in the Box burger stand off busy and gritty Lincoln Boulevard. Restaurants, shops, and the beach are within walking distance, while the Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica Place Mall, and Santa Monica Pier are within a seven-minute drive. Venice beach is a 12-minute drive from the hotel, and the Getty Museum is 15-minutes away. Los Angeles International Airport is a 20-minute drive.

Each room is designed slightly differently, with pine-knotted furniture and inspirational quotes hanging on the walls. Colorful comforters, wood floors, and doilies decorate the area, along with tablecloths and neutral-colored hook rugs. One room has two bedrooms. All rooms have mounted flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, safes, and ceiling fans but no air-conditioning, coffeemakers, or king-size beds. Rooms have free Wi-Fi, but the signal can be weak, and it's often necessary to step outside. Hairdryers, irons, and small computer tables are available on request. Most of the bathrooms are small, with white pedestal sinks, dated brown tile, and Spa Green and Rain Breeze toiletries. They are shower only -- no tubs.

The Rest Haven offers free Wi-Fi and ample parking. There's a backyard seating area with plants and garden decorations. The motel doesn't have a proper lobby or serve any food or drinks on-site.
