Bottom Line

Andronis Luxury Suites is a luxury boutique overlooking the Aegean Sea. Though Santorini and over-the-top hotels go hand-in-hand, this property has the added benefit of a location overlooking the Caldera side of the Mediterranean and it is within walking distance of the shops and restaurants of Oia. Each of the 22 suites includes a private hot tub; some suites are done in the traditional cave style of the island. A dramatic infinity pool overlooks the cliffs and sea below. The on-site restaurant gets good reviews for Greek food and free breakfast with local ingredients. Like most hotels in this part of the world, expect steep steps and spotty Wi-Fi access.

Scene

Small, luxurious boutique

Kids under the age of 13 aren't allowed at Adronis Luxury Suites -- so guests won't have to worry about getting splashed while sunbathing beside the chic infinity pool. This sophisticated boutique has a grown-up vibe with an emphasis on relaxation and health. Public spaces and suites are designed with the traditional Cycladic architecture found throughout the island: whitewashed walls, flat roofs, and lots of steep stone steps. The airy lobby has clean lines and a white reception desk decorated with a small olive tree. There's a brown patchwork style sofa and matching ottoman where guests can wait for the bellman. Outside, the infinity pool looks down the rocky cliffs to the Aegean Sea. There are free sun loungers and umbrellas. Because the hotel has so few rooms (with private hot tubs) and fast access to Oia, crowding isn't a problem as guests tend to stay in their suite or explore the island.

Location

Built into the cliffs above the Aegean Sea

While a lot of luxury hotels are built into the cliffs overlooking the Aegean Sea not as many of them have fast walking access to the village of Oia. Nearby neighbors include an open air restaurant, souvenir shop, and art gallery. And yet, it's just a short walk back to the hotel for seclusion and quiet. Parking is not provided. Airport transfer is available for a fee.

Rooms

Suites with private hot tubs (and some pools)

There are four types of suites available at Adronis Luxury Suites and each of them has a private hot tub. Staff controls the temperature from the front desk, which can be inconvenient. Some suites have small private pools with views of the Aegean Sea. All have traditional cavelike Cycladic architecture and light gray contemporary furniture. Flat-screen TVs and air-conditioning are standard. Sleek bathrooms have gray walls and black toilets. Rain showers, luxury toiletries, and natural loofah sponges are provided. Outside, private terraces include a table with an attached umbrella and chairs; some have hammocks. Views of the Aegean Sea and cliffside are gorgeous.

Features

Small spa, Mediterranean restaurant, and luxurious excursions

Adronis Luxury Suites is committed to providing guests with high-quality features and over-the-top experiences. Staff can arrange a sunset cruise on a luxury catamaran, local wine tastings, and helicopter transportation. There's a small spa offering massages and facials, along with an indoor whirlpool -- though there isn't a fitness center. The Mediterranean restaurant gets high marks for using organic ingredients in their Greek inspired dishes. Breakfast is free and room service is available. For those that can't escape the office, business services like photocopying and faxes can be taken care of 24 hours a day. Wi-Fi is free but spotty. The on-site luxe boutique sells resort wear and handmade jewelry.
