Staying in Santorini is largely about the sea views, and Anteliz Suites has one of the finest you'll find -- a particularly spectacular and expansive panorama of the Aegean Sea. The hotel's pretty too, a reconstructed and renovated 19th-century villa, some it set into the hillside on which it's perched. The pool is a good size for this type of property, and rooms are modern and feature hand-crafted furnishings. This island's all quite pricey, and this is no exception, but if you fancy splashing for more luxury try the Andronis Boutique Hotel up the coast.
Scene
Peaceful, small hotel with spectacular sea-view panoramas
A gently sloping stepped path flanked by a beautiful expanse of sea leads to the wrought iron entrance of the Anteliz Suites -- a small boutique reconstructed from an original 19th-century Santorinian villa. Located away from the busier part of the island, the mood is serene and relaxed -- guests soak up the sun and the stunning sea views around the pretty tile-patterned courtyard dotted with greenery. Reception is homey and personal, an unassuming front desk surrounded by traditional pieces and ancient references (the owner is one of the leading photographers of antiquities in Greece). Clientele tends towards couples keen to do absolutely nothing but relax and enjoy the peace and quiet, spectacular panoramas, and magical sunsets.
Location
Peaceful hillside setting overlooking the Aegean Sea in west Santorini
The Anteliz Suites are located in one of the quieter corners of Santorini, nestled on the hills of Fira on the west coast of the island. The property overlooks the Aegean Sea and the Santorinian caldera (mostly submerged underwater volcano) and is 10 minutes' walk from the picturesque old port of Fira (also accessible via cable car or donkey). Santorini Airport is four miles away as is the port of Athiniou; the hotel provides transfers and taxis are also available.
Rooms
Appealing rooms with hand-crafted Santorinian furnishings and marble-finished bathrooms
Air-conditioned rooms are decorated in light, modern tones and come with elegant hand-crafted Santorinian furniture and cool tiled floors. Bathrooms are finished in mosaic and marble and provide high-end toiletries and bathtubs with rain-shower heads. In-room amenities are perfectly adequate, with satellite TV, minibars, and phones. Some rooms have a cave-style layout part-imbedded in the hillside.
