Dark brown decor in some rooms doesn't match island location
The Aressana Spa Hotel and Suites certainly presents itself well as a luxury spa destination, with its pristine whitewashed facade and ever-so stylish lobby. Spa treatments are genuinely unique, and the emphasis on locally-sourced produce also extends to the organic restaurant. There is a long swimming pool and lounge area with sea views. A big negative is lack of sea views in most rooms, which is why many choose Santorini in the first place, so if you want luxury accommodation with a panorama, check out the Andronis Boutique Hotel or the nearby Anteliz Suites.
Scene
Peaceful, welcoming hotel and spa
Set in front of a beautifully arranged patterned and pebbled forecourt dotted with palms, the Aressana Spa Hotel and Suites presents a pristine facade of brilliant white, setting the scene for an impressively luxurious property. Inside the atmosphere is hushed and has a serene style accompanied by the smell of fresh flowers. Interior design elements are inspired by geological material sourced from the stones from the caldera volcano, while contemporary furnishings sit alongside pieces of sculpture and samples of native cacti. Clientele tend toward the well-to-do traveler and couples splashing out on a luxury holiday treat.
Location
Quiet location in the heart of bustling Fira on Santorini's west coast
The hotel is located on the west coast of Santorini in the center of Fira, the island's main town and bustling metropolis. Positioned between a Greek Orthodox cathedral and the Museum of Prehistoric Thera, the area is peaceful yet offers easy access to the markets, restaurants, and general island life of Fira. Santorini Airport is located four miles away as is the port of Athiniou, and the hotel can arrange transfers.
Rooms
Modern rooms with fresh flowers and welcome drinks
Rooms are decorated in a modern style with simple wood furnishings, tiled floors, and earthy tones. There are always fresh flowers to welcome guests, as well as a local spirit and homemade fig preserve free of charge. All rooms extend to an outdoor patio or terrace with seating areas. Bathrooms have walk-in showers or tubs, and provide robes and toiletries. Only some rooms have views of the sea. Some rooms have dark brown decor which doesn't seem to fit in with the lovely, dominant whites and blues of Santorini.
Features
Spa treatments and restaurant menu inspired by island produce
The hotel's spa is a particularly serene space decorated in elegant mosaic and specializing in treatments inspired from the surroundings -- rich soils from the island's volcano are used as well as red wine, bees wax, and Aegean sea salt. The pool is narrow but long enough to swim decent lengths, and features a charming bridge, as well as plenty of sun loungers, daybeds, and parasols. The Ifestioni is a bio-organic restaurant offering guests beautifully presented dishes inspired by local cooking, while the bar has an upper-level lounge terrace with sea views. An Internet corner with two iMacs is available as well as free Wi-Fi in the lobby.
