Built along the Oia cliffs, the boutique Art Maisons Luxury Santorini Hotels Aspaki & Oia Castle is a dual property with whitewashed Cycladic architecture, modern upscale decor, and gorgeous sunset views of the caldera, volcano, and Aegean Sea. All hotel features are shared but located on Aspaki grounds, with Oia Castle suites having heavier cave-like architecture and extravagant amenities. With only eight Aspaki suites and 11 Oia Castle suites, the two sections feel private and romantic, and are ideal spots for honeymooners not concerned with budget. Everything is designed to impress, from the topnotch espresso machines to en-suite pools and exposed volcanic rock. While there is a spa on-site, guests hoping for a pool or full restaurant should check out the neighboring Andronis Luxury Suites, which also comes with a lower price tag.
Scene
Exclusive and luxurious vibe with upscale and traditional decor
Both Art Maisons properties reflect the ingredients of a quintessential luxury holiday on Santorini. While the historical Oia Castle area, once used as a fortress, takes luxury features of the Aspaki Suites one step further, the main property is home to the hotels' shared features. Built in Santorini's typical whitewashed Cycladic style, Aspaki Suites' smooth edges, thick curves, and periodic peaks of dark exposed rock exude romance, especially when backed by stunning sunset views. Although there’s no pool on the property, there is a decent amount of space to walk around and loungers to sun on. Surrounded by rocky cliffs and sprawling views, the vibe is indulgent and relaxing. And, with only a handful of rooms, exclusive.
Location
Northern caldera position in Oia with direct access to restaurants, bars, and galleries
Located along the northern caldera cliffs in Oia village, the hotels are in a prime spot for some of the best sunset views in Santorini. Restaurants, bars, shops, galleries, and several blue-domed churches can be seen from suite balconies and visited on foot in about 15 minutes. Although Oia is not the most convenient place to explore the island, as it is located in the north, there is an old pedestrian path along the cliffs connecting Oia to the capital city of Fira. The walk takes about two hours. Guests can also inquire about public bus options for the journey or rent a car and be in Fira in less than 20 minutes.
Rooms
Luxury suites with en-suite pools or hot tubs, private balconies, and elegant style
All eight suites at the Aspaki Suites are built in a contemporary Cycladic design with smooth edges, curved lines, and built-in accents. Ceilings are taller than at the Castle and decor is upscale, but not opulent. Warmer tones or exposed volcanic rock break up the whitewashed walls, while beautifully tiled bathrooms, in-suite pools, and decor accents add more color. Bathrooms are modern with topnotch fixtures, including huge rainfall showerheads, and have soft towels, bathrobes, and slippers.
The 11 Oia Castle Luxury Suites are molded in traditional cave-like designs with smooth whitewashed walls, heavy curves, and features built directly into the structure. All suites have a classic style with draped beds, chandelier lights, and fairly opulent, detailed decor. Unique suite features can include large cave pools, steamy hammams, or outdoor whirlpools.
All Art Maisons suites have private balconies perfectly positioned to soak in the famous Oia sunset views over the caldera and Aegean Sea. Suites are equipped with minibars, air-conditioning, tea/coffeemakers, and a full range of luxury toiletries.
Features
Concierge, snack bar, and spa on-site, but no pool, restaurant, or fitness center
While Art Maisons hotels may provide thoughtful and luxurious suites with unique amenities, the public features are lacking. Beautiful views and lovely terraces aside, the most notable feature is the spa. Based in holistic practices, the spa has body treatments and massages that can be performed either indoors or outdoors, a steamy aromatherapy hammam, and wedding-based beauty services. There’s a bar serving drinks and light Mediterranean fare with room service, but no full-service dine-in restaurant. There’s also no fitness center or pool. Guests are encouraged to use the restaurant, pool, and bar facilities at a nearby property. The Aspaki does have a concierge desk that will happily arrange excursions, private yacht cruises, wine tours, and even donkey rides. Free Wi-Fi is available as well.
