This intimate value hotel offers a quiet atmosphere setting a one-minute walk from the beach and slightly removed from the popular tourist track. The staff's hospitality and service is regularly praised, and the decor throughout is sleek and chic. The pool and furnished terrace are pleasant places to spend a day in the sun, while a snack bar is available for breakfast and light meals. The 29 rooms have modern decor in neutral tones with pops of pink or blue, and come with flat-screen TVs, kitchenettes with mini-fridges, and outdoor spaces, plus some have whirlpool tubs. Scene

A friendly, relaxing hotel with a crisp, modern look

This hotel is popular with couples for its quiet, intimate setting with consistently friendly service and a relaxing atmosphere. The design throughout is stylish and modern, consisting primarily of light neutral tones with occasional pops of bright-pink or blue. The lobby has light-wood floors, a few colored pendant lights, and gray couches, and it's the only common area indoors. Outside, the whitewashed building with balusters and arched cutouts for balconies is charming and typical of the island, plus trees along the perimeter of the property and flowering vines climbing the walls are a lovely touch. The hotel website shows a private hot tub with a beautiful ocean view, but the main pool is less spectacular. It's a nice spot, but the view is hidden behind trees and neighboring buildings. From the lounge a story above the pool, the ocean is partially visible over rooftops.

Location

A quiet spot on the eastern coast of Santorini, a short walk from tourist activities

Blue Waves Hotel is in the town of Kamari, on the eastern coast of Santorini. There is a convenience store next door, and it is a two-minute walk to the beach and a popular tourist shopping street along the coast. There are a variety of restaurants within a few minutes’ walk of the hotel, plus a public bus stop and a free public parking lot. It is a six-minute drive to Escape Game Kamari, a puzzle-solving theme room offering a diversion from sun and shopping. Parking at Ancient Thera, a popular site on the mountainside, is a 10-minute drive from the hotel. The capital city of Fira, with its incredible caldera views, is a 16-minute drive from the hotel. Santorini Airport is 11 minutes away, and the port is a 22-minute drive away.

Rooms

Modern, minimalist design plus kitchenettes, flat-screen TVs, and balconies or terraces

Larger-than-average rooms are done in the same modern style found throughout the property. The design consists of mostly neutral colors -- gray concrete floors, bright-white walls, and a mix of light-wood, white, or glass furniture -- plus bright pops of blue or pink in the pillows and matching bed runners. Kitchenettes come standard and include a mini-fridge and kettle, and some have plug-in electric burners. Every room includes a flat-screen TV, air-conditioning, and a safe, plus a small furnished balcony or terrace. Terraces for poolside rooms open directly onto public space and lack privacy.

Larger rooms with an extra bed, sitting area with a sofa, or whirlpool tub are available. Some of these also have a sleeker design with more embellishment. Those with rooftop terraces have stunning panoramic views of Kamari and the ocean. Bathrooms tend to be small and are done in floor-to-ceiling concrete, leaving them with a monotone feel. Bathtubs or walk-in showers have handheld showerheads, and some include a rainfall showerhead. Free toiletries include soap, shower gel, and shampoo, plus a hairdryer is provided.

Features

Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, and guests find the connection reliable.
