The building is tucked into the cliff of the caldera, and accessed through winding pathways. It features the area's trademark Cycladic architecture, with bright whitewashed walls and tiered terraces that jut over the cliff and overlook the sea and caldera. While there are some common areas, the mood here is of privacy and peacefulness, with breakfast served in-room to guests' private balconies.

Porta Fira Suites is perched on a cliffside on the south end of Fira in a fairly private location down (many) stairs from a pedestrian walkway. It's about a five-minute walk from the hotel to the heart of Fira, where guests will find shops, restaurants, bars, and nightlife. The Old Port sits at the base of the hill, reachable by steep steps or a cable car. Santorini Airport and the ferry port area are both about a 15-minute drive.

Spaces feel peaceful yet luxurious, with whitewashed walls and arched doorways that pair well with natural wood and a neutral color palette of beige, gray, and tan. Each Suite has a private terrace with dining space and an exceptional view of the sea. 

The smallest entry-level Suite features a king-size bed, seating area, and terrace, while larger units add separate seating areas and sofa beds, roomier terraces with lounge space, or whirlpool tubs, either outside or in-room. All units have individually controlled AC, down duvets and pillows, stocked minibars, and coffee/tea service. They also have flat-screen satellite TVs with DVD players, free Wi-Fi, and safes. Bathrooms are sleek, with curving, natural walls, stone basin sinks, and rainfall showers or whirlpool tubs. All come with hairdryers, slippers, and high-end Korres individual toiletries. 

The hotel's most exceptional feature is its outdoor pool, a lovely terrace area overlooking the sea, with giant cushionemd lounge spaces and a luxe stone infinity pool that extends from beneath a cave-like cutout in the hotel's whitewashed facade. A small bar is also situated outside, with casual chairs and cafe tables on a jutting terrace that overlooks the ocean. Guests can dine here for lunch and dinner, or meals can be served in-room. Breakfast is free and served to rooms, and can be set out on private balconies. Terraces with lounge space can be found in other areas of the hotel, though guests should be aware that accessing them requires stair climbs. Like many area suite hotels, this property lacks a gym or spa.
