This small family-run hotel opened in the 1970s when the family visited Sardinia, fell in love with it, and decided to live here. It is still run by the now elderly owner and his family, who provide a warm welcome that makes guests feel right at home. Facts like this draw a number of loyal guests back time and again, despite the fact that the hotel is basic and a bit dated. Decor leans toward rustic country, with pictures and maps on the walls, and knickknacks and trinkets on display throughout, all coming together to give the property a homey look. The owners are big animal lovers -- especially cats -- and there are several that hang out in the garden. Many of the items on display also are cat related, including paintings, photos, ornaments, and decorations. The hotel is especially popular with mature guests and couples taking a romantic beach vacation. 

This hotel is situated in the seaside town of Pittulongu, about a 10-minute drive from the center of Olbia. It's a quiet area, and guests can walk to the beach in about 10 minutes, and there are also restaurants, bars, a supermarket, and a tobacconist within walking distance, as well as a bus stop. Most guests rent a car for exploring the surrounding area, as public transportation is limited. The Costa Smeralda Airport is about a 12-minute drive from the hotel, and Porto Rotondo is about 25 minutes away by car. 

While rooms here are impeccably clean and cozy, they are a bit dated, with gold bedspreads and matching drapery, tile flooring, dark wood furniture, and white plaster walls. It's also worth noting that at 13 square meters (140 square feet), many are quite small, even for Sardinia. Several have small tube-style TVs, but others have flat-screen units. Other amenities include air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and minibars. Bathrooms also are small and dated, but they are also clean and come with hairdryers, showers, and bidets. Six rooms have sea views, three of which include balconies and are worth the upgrade. Others look out onto the hotel's beautiful and fragrant gardens. 

As a small hotel, features are limited here, but a number of additions do add value to a stay here, including a tennis court. A free breakfast buffet is served daily in the cozy breakfast room. Both the breakfast room and the adjacent bar are decorated in a rustic country style with the owners' collection of artwork, knickknacks, and trinkets. It's a bit dated, but is charming in its own way. A flat-screen TV in the bar keeps guests up-to-date on the latest news, sports, and weather. The owners' collections also are on display in the reading room, which offers cushioned rattan seating and lots of plants, along with an old tube-style TV. Books are available for guests to borrow. Tables and chairs, as well as swings, are set up on the terrace surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers. It's a popular spot for breakfast and evening wine and cocktails. Free parking is available on-site, and Wi-Fi is free throughout. The nearby beach is beautiful, but lounge chairs and umbrellas can be pricey to rent. The hotel is open only from May to October, which is common in this part of Sardinia.
