Common areas are doused in vibrant colors and chic, modern furnishings courtesy of Vitra, the renowned Swiss furniture company. There is plenty of seating throughout the vast, open-plan lobby where large bookshelves are filled with various reads and knickknacks and funky decor includes glass dividing panels etched with florid designs and cool lighting fixtures.

A well-lit walkway links the arrivals hall of Schiphol Airport with the hotel, and there is also a shuttle connecting the two. Besides the hotel's dining options, guests are limited to the airport's pricey culinary offerings as the property sits within the airport complex and there is nothing else within walking distance. Travel downtown is possible via public transportation: there is a Sprinter station a 10-minute walk from the hotel, and a single transfer to a city tram affords access to the center of Amsterdam in about 45 minutes. Amsterdam's business district is closer and the World Trade Center can be reached in 20 minutes via public transportation.

These small, stark white rooms veer into spaceship territory with the compactness of their layouts: wall-to-wall XL King beds are wedged up against floor-to-ceiling windows with bedside tables and lamps built into the bed frames, with the remainder of the space taken up by two glass columns enclosing toilets and walk-in rainfall showers (which might pose privacy issues for some). Though amenities are sparse (no minibars or coffeemakers here), they are high quality: luxury Italian bed linens, bespoke designer bath products, and showers with alleged anti-jet lag properties. Rooms are entirely operated via a tablet by which guests can control the temperature, colored mood lighting, blackout blinds, and flat-screen TVs (with free movies), which is a nifty feature for some, but might be a hassle for others. There are no closets, though there are a few hooks on the wall and a large pullout drawer beneath the bed for luggage storage.
