Mayflower Park Hotel

Since 1927, the Mayflower Park has been continuously operating in downtown Seattle. The building façade features
ornate terra cotta details. Guests enter to a large, high-ceilinged, and
spacious lobby with flower arrangements and stained-glass windows. A five-tier
crystal chandelier, grandfather clock from 1770, and English mahogany cabinet
from 1810 complete the look. The atmosphere is Old World and antique, with Asian accents such as a
Japanese screen behind the front desk. While the crowd here is dressy by
Seattle standards, the atmosphere is classy and elegant, but not fussy.
Guests gather in the lobby to chat in the quiet seating area, or they
gravitate to Oliver's Lounge with its huge windows, views of the street, and classic martinis. The on-site Mediterranean restaurant is situated in an attractive
dining room with mahogany millwork, hand-painted murals, and bright colors. The
hotel tends to draw older tourists for its ambience and
proximity to shopping and city sights, though romantic couples and business travelers are equally at home here.

The Mayflower Park Hotel is right in
downtown Seattle, surrounded by shopping and dining. Nordstrom's is one block
northeast and the Pacific Place Mall is two blocks northeast. The hotel is
connected to Westlake Center by walkway. At the center you can catch the Monorail
for a two-minute ride to the Seattle Center complex, which contains the Space
Needle, EMP Museum, McCaw Hall, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Pacific Science
Center, and an IMAX theater. Iconic Pike Place Market -- home to the famous fish toss -- is a five-minute walk southwest and
Pioneer Square is a five-minute cab ride or 20-minute walk south. The
Washington State Convention Center is about a seven-minute walk east of the
hotel. The Seattle Art Museum is a 10-minute walk south and the Seattle
Aquarium and Seattle Great Wheel -- great family friendly attractions -- are both a 15-minute walk southwest. Sky View
Observatory at Columbia Center is a 15-minute walk southeast. The Mayflower
Park is a 20-minute drive north of Sea-Tac International Airport. Guests can
also walk to Westlake Center and take a Link Light Rail trip to Sea-Tac in about 40 minutes.    

The 12-floor Mayflower Park has 160 all non-smoking rooms in
Classic and Deluxe categories as well as a variety of suite configurations.
Most of the Classic and Deluxe Rooms range from 165 to 270 square feet, so some
rooms are on the small side. Despite the hotel's city center location, rooms are
quiet. They're clean and well maintained, and get good natural light. Rooms have an elegant Queen Anne style, with dark-wood furnishings and bird or floral
prints on the wall. Some rooms have poster headboards, and all beds have plush mattresses and frilly bed skirts -- the period style won't be everyone's cup of tea. Color schemes vary between burgundy, burnt orange, and gold or olive green. Rooms all come with bathrobes, free newspapers, in-room safes,
coffeemakers, free Wi-Fi, and large flat-screen
TVs with premium cable. Some rooms and suites have wet bars, and suites have
parlors and/or living rooms. A few rooms do not have desks, and many rooms do
not have mini-fridges (the hotel will provide mini-fridges upon request while
supplies last). Bathrooms are clean and well lit, but many are small and
cramped, with limited counter space and the toilet right next to the sink. Rooms
feature premium bath products and the hotel's original 1927 tiled floors. Some
bathrooms have jetted tubs.

Similar to many older city hotels in Seattle, the Mayflower Park has no
swimming pool or sauna. It does offer a small fitness center with a few pieces
of cardio equipment, free weights, a flat-screen TV, and wall mirror. Dining and
drinking venues are the hotel's centerpiece. Andaluca serves breakfast and
highly acclaimed Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine with Middle Eastern and
North African accents for lunch and dinner. Its signature dish is paella, and
it also serves fare such as tamarind-brined pork chops and rib roast in a Rioja
butter sauce. Twenty-four-hour room service is available, but breakfast isn't included in room rates. On Wednesday evening the restaurant hosts a
free wine tasting. Situated in a sophisticated space with jazz music,
Oliver's Lounge serves a wide variety of beer, wine, liquor, cocktails, and
light fare including burgers, turkey clubs, and Caesar salads. The bar has won
awards for its martinis, and hosts a yearly martini-making contest. The hotel
also has a dedicated concierge, stand-up lobby computer stations, and meeting
rooms with wedding services. Valet parking is available, but it's expensive, in
line with other downtown Seattle hotels. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
