Cozy and antique-filled, the Briar Patch Inn has handsome wood cabinets, furniture, and beams in the front desk and breakfast room areas. Local Arizona artwork is displayed throughout the property, which only offers Wi-Fi in the lodge until 8 p.m., emphasizing the unplugged vibe. The property's rustic charm continues to the outside spaces, which have ample tables and chairs along with a grill, and Oak Creek’s calming flow of water can be heard throughout the hotel grounds. Additionally, there are comfortable hammocks provided in large green spaces where birds and other wildlife frequent. A pair of grazing sheep (Wooly and Bully) live on the property and can be fed by guests while the expansive forest area around the hotel provides a quiet and serene space to relax. Guests are often couples or groups of couples seeking a respite in the woods. 

About a five- to 10-minute drive from downtown Sedona rests the Briar Patch Inn on nine acres of remote land. Hiking trails, shops, restaurants, and major attractions are within a 15-minute car ride from the hotel, but Oak Creek does run directly through the property. Those who want a peaceful stay away from traffic, noise, and bustle will enjoy the tucked away location of this bed and breakfast. Sedona Airport is just over 10-minutes away. 

Rooms at the Briar Patch Inn have stunning woodwork from the low ceilings to the furniture, and red flannel curtains match red bedspreads for a homey feel. Arizona art pieces hang from the walls and although some of the decor is dated, it feels rustic and cozy. Each cabin has either a full kitchen, a kitchenette, or a mini-fridge; all have private patios, wood-burning fireplaces, and coffeemakers and tea kettles. Each cabin has a sitting area, but the lack of interior doors may create a privacy issue. Bathrooms are average size, with shampoo/conditioner dispensers and hotel soaps. Some of the cabins only have small walk-in showers. There are no TVs, telephones, or Wi-Fi, and cell reception is not great. Some cabins have beautiful views of Oak Creek, and guests can have breakfast overlooking the water. 

Although there is a breakfast room at the Briar Patch Inn, there is no on-site restaurant or bar for late night meals or drinks. However, there is a daily homemade breakfast that receives positive reviews, and cabins have patios where guests can dine or enjoy wine on their own. Spa treatments include facials and massages (from the on-site licensed massage therapists) which are offered in guest cabins or at the outdoor creek-side gazebo. Jin Shin Jyutsu harmonizing healing is available as well. Even though there isn’t a pool, Oak Creek offers swimming and fishing, and there is a library in the main lodge with books to borrow. The area is filled with hiking trails, and the Inn's owners can offer suggestions. The on-site shop sells jewelry, pottery, and clothing. There is free Wi-Fi in the main lodge area, but it closes at 8 p.m.
