A few complaints about cleanliness and maintenance
The Ever8 Serviced Residence is an upper-middle-range option with 180 fresh and modern apartment-style rooms. The Seodaemun district location is convenient, and the hotel is close to two metro stations and two bus stations. Many restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance, as well as major universities. Rooms are modern and minimalistic, and kitchenettes are fully equipped with everything needed for simple cooking and dining. Some rooms have stunning views of the city. There's a 24/7 coffee shop as well as an American buffet breakfast (for a fee). The fitness center is bright and has a good selection of equipment, and there's a convenience store and nail salon. As an alternative, travelers could check out the ShinShin Hotel, which has lower rates, but lacks a cafe or gym.
Scene
Fresh and modern apartment-style hotel for self-sufficient travelers
Although its tagline says that the Ever8 is designed for business travelers, it draws just as many families, couples, groups, and individuals due to its apartment-style rooms with kitchenettes and washer/dryer combos. The 22-story building is modern throughout, and the minimalist lobby with simple bench seating and a computer desk sets the design tone for the rest of the property. In addition to the lobby, guests also can hang out on a small terrace furnished with tables and chairs -- there are umbrellas for shade. Otherwise, this is a hotel for travelers who don't need to many frills, and instead want to take advantage of the reasonable self-catering rates.
Location
Convenient location in Seodaemun district, a short walk from two metro stations
This apartment-style hotel is conveniently located in a bustling section of the Seodaemun district, close to Ehwa Women's University and Severance Hospital. Multiple dining options and shops are within easy walking distance of the hotel, and Edae shopping street is just a minute away on foot. The Ever8 makes a good base for exploring the city, as the Ehwa and Sinchon Metro stations are both less than five minutes away on foot. Two bus stops are also easily accessible. The popular Dongdaemun Market is about 20 minutes away by public transportation, while buzzing Myeongdong is a 25-minute journey. Expect about an hour's drive to Incheon Airport, or 90 minutes on public transportation.
Rooms
Sharp, minimalist rooms with kitchenettes and washer/dryer combos -- some with great city views
All rooms are apartments and have fully equipped kitchenettes with washer/dryers. Decor is modern and minimalist, with gray and taupe color schemes, tile floors, and simple clean-lined furniture. It's a fresh look that puts these units a step above some of the other apartment-hotels we've seen in Seoul. Kitchens have lime green backsplashes and are outfitted with microwaves, sinks, refrigerators, kettles for tea and coffee, and hot plates. Cookware, dishes, and silverware are also provided, and there are table-and-chair sets for dining. Refrigerators come stocked with two free bottles of mineral water. Flat-screen TVs are mounted on the wall in the sleeping area, Wi-Fi is free, and all apartments are air-conditioned (though this depends on the season). Compact bathrooms feature hairdryers, towels, and toiletries. Showers are accented with lime green or lavender tiling. Oddly, magnifying mirrors are mounted over the desk in the main room. Triple rooms can accommodate three people with separate double and single beds. Some rooms offer stunning views of the city from large windows. It's worth noting that while housekeeping is offered every day, some guests have noted some cleanliness issues and a bit of necessary upkeep.
Features
American breakfast buffet, coffee shop, fitness center, computer desk, convenience store, free Wi-Fi
Except for a pool or spa, the Ever8 pretty much has everything a business or leisure traveler needs. An American-style breakfast buffet is available for a fee and includes eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, vegetables, cereal, and bread. Children younger than 8 eat for free. The Cafe No. 8 coffee shop on the first floor serves coffees and sweets. A couple of tables are set up on the sidewalk for dining alfresco. The spacious fitness center is well-equipped with modern cardio and weight training machines, as well as free weights. Cardio machines have their own television screens. A 24/7 convenience store downstairs sells travel essentials, snacks, and drinks, as well as beauty items and cleaning supplies. Nail No. 8 provides manicures and pedicures. Two computers and a printer are set up in the lobby for guests to use, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. Parking in the garage is also free.
