The Hotel Holos is a modern, upper-middle-range, B&B with seven rooms in a residential house retrofitted with contemporary geometric architecture. It's situated in a pretty, leafy neighborhood built for the World Exposition of 1929 full of Victorian-era houses and orange trees. The minimal rooms have air-conditioning, fun extras like colored toilet paper, and bathrobes. The modern garden and wood-paneled solarium terrace offer lovely places for lounging. Some guests have noted that the location is far from touristed areas (it's 45 minutes on foot to the Jewish quarter) and that there are no real dining options within the property. Wi-Fi is free and there are rental bikes available.
Scene
Funky, family-run bed and breakfast
At the Hotel Holos, visitors enter a classic Sevillan, Victorian-era stucco house from the residential street through a garden circumscribed by contemporary fencing consisting of angled steel slats. Inside, floor-to-ceiling plate glass panels introduce a considerable amount of light to the wood-paneled lobby, which is accented with brushed steel and glass and feels more like a small museum than a bed and breakfast. Couples in particular frequent this property, as it has an intimate and romantic vibe from the solarium terrace to the garden where breakfast is served.
Location
In an upscale Victorian residential neighborhood 45 minutes on foot to the south of the main tourist area
The neighborhood that includes Hotel Holos was built for the World Exposition of 1929, and the surrounding houses are outfitted with terra cotta tile roofs, iron grate windows, and magnificent patios. There is a bar on the same street as the hotel and a couple of small grocery stores, but besides this the area is largely residential. About 500 feet from the hotel is a bus line that leads directly to the Jewish quarter (30 minutes travel time).
Rooms
Small, sunny, wood-paneled rooms with some retro '60s touches and fun details
Large vertical panel windows flood these rooms with light that bounces off the wood veneer floors and wood-paneled walls to create a warm glow. The rooms are minimal, outfitted with a tulip chair or two, nightstands, and little additional furniture. Bathrooms, also wood-floored, have glassed-in walk-in showers and small vanities. Double rooms may have a lofted futon as a second bed. All rooms have LED bedside reading lights, bathrobes, a hairdryer, a makeup mirror, a flat-screen TV, and a good amount of built-in storage space.
Features
Lovely breakfast patio, business center, rental bikes, and roof deck
A few areas throughout the hotel are particularly attractive including the shaded garden, in which the hotel serves breakfast in warm weather, and the wood-paneled solarium roof deck, which has an outdoor shower for cooling off when things heat up. There is a computer for guest use and a few rental bikes. Wi-Fi is free.
