This 273-room mid-range resort appeals to families with its long list of on-site activities; between the beach, three swimming pools, various sports fields and courts, live music, wellness center, numerous bars and restaurants, and kids' club, there are multiple options. However, the property has a dated feel, particularly in the rooms which feature bland, tired decor. The hotel is about a 30-minute drive from the nearest town so some guests feel isolated, and others complain of being nickel-and-dimed with fees for both Wi-Fi and use of the in-room safes and coffeemakers.
Scene
Expansive resort with numerous activities has families in mind.
This expansive, sprawling resort is located among well-manicured and lush gardens. The sleek building is complimented by clean decor that is invited, but not particularly upscale. With its numerous activities and large common areas, the resort is definitely bustling and busy, making it a popular choice among families. Since it is so spread out, however, it rarely feels too crowded and there is almost never an issue of finding a spot to lounge at the three pools.
Location
Far from town in an isolated, beachfront location
Located in a mainly residential area, this beachfront resort can feel a bit remote. A 10-minute drive to the main area of Campofelice di Rocella and a 30-minute car ride to Cefalu, the resort isn't within walking distance of any attractions, save the rocky beach.
Rooms
Clean, simple rooms charge pesky fees for some amenities.
Simple rooms feature dated decor; picture thin green-and-gold bedspreads, empty walls, and black cast iron furniture. All 273 rooms, however, have large balconies with either a garden or seaside view. The seaside view rooms overlook the pool, with the sea in the background and the garden view lets you take in the lush greenery -- but you also can see the driveway leading to the hotel. They include a mini-fridges, satellite TV, and AC. Certain amenities -- such as use of the safes, bathrobes, pillow menus and coffeemakers -- require a fee. Bathrooms are clean with green marble floors, a shower and tub, bidet and a phone located next to the shower. The faucets look a bit tired and water-stained.
Features
Numerous on-site features, including a rocky private beach.
It's almost impossible to run out of things to do at this hotel. There's a small 24-hour fitness center, wellness center, beach volleyball court, tennis courts, kids' club, and soccer fields. Families and couples also enjoy the two massive, lagoon-style outdoor pools, and an indoor pool is an option for when it rains. The sandy beach is scattered with pebbles, but there is a nice, cleared area where the hotel provides lounge chairs and umbrellas so you can relax by the sea.
The hotel offers two restaurants -- one buffet style and the other a la carte. They also offer 24-hour room service if you prefer to eat in your room or want a late-night snack. The on-site bar offers occasional live music, and there's a popular discotheque.
