The Angkor Paradise is fairly typical for larger-scale hotels in this region, with a classic look that will either feel dated or authentic depending on your taste. The large and light lobby showcases handsome replicas of artifacts from the Angkor sites, with latticed details, teak carvings, and Khmer art. The light and airy conservatory-like lobby bar is in contrast to the large restaurant, where there’s limited natural light. As an older hotel, the Angkor Paradise is a bit worn and the decor isn't exactly fresh in places. The hotel appeals to tourist couples wanting spacious rooms and resort-style features close enough to the town center.

The Angkor Paradise Hotel fronts National Road 6, which runs through central Siem Reap. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops (including a convenience store that's particularly handy for buying bottled water) within a five-minute walk. The bustling tourist core of this lively little town is a bit farther, and destinations like Pub Street, the Old Market, and the Night Market can be reached in a 10-minute walk, or just a couple of minutes by tuk-tuk. The Angkor temples are a 15- to 20-minute drive from the hotel, and the international airport is 15 minutes in the other direction by car (naturally it takes a bit longer by tuk-tuk).

Spacious rooms have traditional details that -- while well-kept -- can't help but look a bit tired. Wood features heavily, with wooden floors and solid teak furniture, including ornate teak beds. They are bright, but the look is old school and dated. Mod cons include air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and TVs (most rooms have 40-inch TVs; those that don’t will be upgraded, so check ahead if this matters to you). Electric kettles and minibars are also provided. Bathrooms, though spacious, are dated as well. All feature separate tubs and showers, plus hairdryers, robes, and slippers. Deluxe Rooms are a generous 450 square feet (42 square meters) and come with the option of twin, double, or triple bed configurations, and small balconies with pool or area views. The top floor is exclusively reserved for Club Classic Rooms (570 square feet / 53 square meters), which have far larger balconies. Executive Suites have separate living rooms and minor benefits like express check-in and welcome drinks. It's worth noting that some previous guests comment on occasional downsides like broken air-conditioning and traffic noise in road-facing rooms.

Features at the Angkor Paradise are plentiful, given its proximity to the center. The all-day Palm Restaurant is a large Asian and Western eatery on the ground floor, serving up generous buffet breakfasts and a la carte dishes for lunch and dinner. The generous buffet breakfast -- with choices including an egg station and noodle bar -- is included in rates. There’s also a second smaller restaurant: the glass-walled Cozy Corner, plus bars (with popular happy hours) in the lobby and down by the pool. The hotel’s large outdoor pool has plenty of comfy loungers and day beds for relaxing. Indoors, a mirrored-wall fitness center has cardio equipment and free weights, plus a sauna and steam room, and guests can also book massages at the spa, poolside, or in-room (at a fee). There's a business center and there are six meeting rooms (three large ballrooms and three smaller spaces) for hire. A colorful shop sells classic Khmer souvenirs alongside holiday essentials. Basic room service is available 24/7 and Wi-Fi is free throughout.
