Siesta Key Bungalows is a mid-range property located on a quiet, somewhat secluded road near Sarasota. A lushly landscaped courtyard out front features brick paved pathways with a fountain, covered by a canopy of trees and bushes with hibiscus blooms.

There is vegetation at every turn, and the bright coral color bungalows, which are arranged in clusters on the property, have blue-and-white canvas awnings. There are a few cement tables outside with tiki umbrellas overhead. The swimming pool is fenced off from the bungalows and have blue-and-white cushioned lounge chairs. At the lagoon dock, a mini “beach” is set up with lounge chairs on the sand.

The bungalows are on an isolated area on the Siesta Key inlet, sandwiched between the Heron Lagoon and Little Sarasota Bay. There is a tiny beach on-site that serves as a dock to the lagoon for kayaking and fishing. Turtle Beach on the other side of the lagoon is about a five-minute bicycle or car ride away. The larger Crescent Beach is just as far away, north on the inlet. Turtles Restaurant and Ophelia’s on the Bay are the closest restaurants to the bungalows -- about a 20-minute or longer walk away. Other popular eats in the area include Captain Curt’s Seafood and Clayton’s Siesta Grill on the beach, and are about a five-minute drive north. Lido Key, about a 25-minute drive away, has more action in the town, including a popular shopping district and the Ringling Museum.

The 10 bungalows are clean and simple with tiled flooring, wicker furniture, and sofa beds with white covers. They have a quaint beach cottage feel, and palm tree throw pillows are part of the bungalows' tropical theme. Each (dated) kitchen is full-size with a four-burner stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, and tableware. Furniture is a bit worn -- some pieces have peeling paint on the corners -- and units have outdated boxy TV sets in both the bedroom and living area. The bedrooms are similarly outfitted with white wicker furniture, white linens, and curtains, which could all use upgrades, too. The rooms are clean, though, and and many feel that they have an unpretentious, beach-y charm to them. Dirty towels are placed in wicker baskets by the door for maid service to pick up.

Rooms have outdoor lounging areas (some are screened) with outdoor wicker furniture. The Tortuga and the Ringling bungalows have the best views of the lagoon.

The bungalows are in a quiet, more isolated part of Siesta Key, and there are no restaurants, grocery stores, or entertainment venues located less than a 20-minute walk from the property. The outdoor, heated swimming pool is small, and shows wear and tear. Kayaks and bicycles are stored outside for guests to use, and fishing is available at the lagoon. A small grill is located outside for public use as well.
