With fine dining, a comfortable library, a bright fitness room, and lovely outdoor pools, this hotel is a premier luxury pick.

One of five hotels belonging to the sprawling, family-friendly Resorts World Sentosa complex, the 172-room Resorts World Sentosa - Equarius Hotel is the most tranquil of the bunch. Its picturesque location borders natural rainforest and secluded views from the rooms' balconies make it more conducive to romantic couples than others in the complex. The average room is huge and luxurious with rates to match, and some of the suites have windows with underwater views into the neighboring aquarium. Celebrity chef Sam Leong helms the sole full restaurant, and guests can wander to sister properties like Hotel Michael for more options and other amenities.

The 240-room W Singapore Sentosa Cove is a trendy luxury property in Singapore's exclusive Sentosa Cove. Singapore's CBD can be reached in 15 minutes by car and there's dining and shopping just two minutes away on foot at Quayside Isle. The hotel is stylish and modern with plenty of W's trademark flash and funk -- rooms all have artsy details, premium electronics, and plenty of space. The two on-site restaurants and bars are pluses, as is the huge pool that's open 24/7. Travelers looking for a more sedate property in the Resorts World Sentosa entertainment complex could check out Resorts World Sentosa - Equarius Hotel, where rates can be lower. 

Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa is a massive luxury resort located on the quieter side of Sentosa Island, overlooking the South China Sea. The neighboring golf course and two-minute walk to Tanjong Beach provide ample entertainment, along with the large outdoor pool, fitness center, tennis courts, spa, and free shuttle to two shopping malls. Guests can enjoy the three on-site restaurants and LeBar, which offers live music and signature cocktails. The buffet breakfast serves Western and Asian cuisine, however it's not included in all room rates. Parisian-style rooms have a stylishly whimsical look. Surprisingly, the resort lacks kids' activities. Families with young kids should compare rates at Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa, which has more amenities for both adults and kids.

Le Meridien Singapore, Sentosa is one of the many luxury hotels crowded on Sentosa Island. However, its restored 1940s building, and Onsen suites with outdoor Japanese-style hot tubs make it unique among other properties in its class. All 191 rooms have modern perks such as Nespresso coffeemakers and bathrooms with freestanding tubs. This design-forward hotel features a contemporary restaurant, whisky bar, and an outdoor infinity pool, but no spa. Imbiah station monorail is just outside making for easy access across the island, and all the attractions of Resorts World, including Universal Studios, are essentially across the road. Nearby, the less expensive Resorts World Sentosa - Hotel Michael has a spa and was designed by famed architect Michael Graves' firm -- although half the property is located on the Resort World premises, which may not suit all travelers.

Its sophisticated gallery-like vibe caters less to children than some of its sister hotels, but this is still a family-friendly destination and the closest of the group to Universal Studios Singapore. The modern rooms double as showcases of Graves' signature style, with wall murals and designer furniture from the architect's repertoire -- though they're not quite up to advertised five-star standards. Families with younger children should compare with the Resorts World Sentosa - Festive Hotel.

The 140-room Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa is one of more than a dozen luxury hotels competing for prominence on the island of Sentosa, but its facilities can't compare with the branded giants at nearby Resorts World Sentosa properties. The quiet atmosphere and charm of the old British colonial buildings might appeal to a certain type of traveler, but some maintenance and housekeeping problems hold it back. Its rooftop infinity pool has a beautiful view of the sea, and there's a kids' pool with waterslides. Standard Deluxe Rooms are underwhelming, but suites are housed in a historic building, with daybeds on sunny patios, and the villas have their own private plunge pools. The nearby Capella Singapore's colonial-style buildings get higher marks across the board but also come with higher rates. 

ONE 15 Marina Club is a four-pearl hotel located within Sentosa Cove, a prime residential district on the island of Sentosa. The Club features 26 spacious rooms (hard to find in Singapore) that provide nice touches like sunken bathtubs and Nespresso machines, though general wear and tear can be an issue. With two pools, a full-service spa, fitness center, and kid-friendly extras like an arcade, there's no shortage of amenities here. The Club's location may not be great for international tourists, since it's far from the city center. However, travelers seeking short drives to Sentosa sights are in luck, and there are numerous dining options, cafes, and bars both on-site and nearby. Those who want easier access to golf courses and sites like Universal Studios should compare rates at Hard Rock Hotel Singapore.

The 196-room Siloso Beach Resort Sentosa is the only eco-resort on an island crowded with modern luxury properties. Built around the existing landscape, the open-air, upper-middle-range hotel has an outdoor pool fed by natural spring water and attractive rooms with lots of wood; the villas, with glass-encased trees sprouting through the floor, are particularly worth a look. Just note that not all rooms have Wi-Fi and the eco-friendly design might mean the occasional pest. This is the cheapest resort on the island, though rates at the more luxurious Amara Sanctuary Resort sometimes aren't too much more.
