The 23-room Pousada is situated behind a gated entrance in a quiet and wooded residential area in the Mantiqueira Mountains. The inn is housed in a barn-red alpine-style building, surrounded by attractive landscaping and features exterior garage parking. The lobby is small but bright and feels like a living room, with a fireplace, a TV, and comfortable sofas. There's also an inviting breakfast room, which features lots of natural light and views of the mountains and forest. The property, which opened in 2012 and is in great shape throughout, attracts families and couples alike, most of whom are in town on vacation.

Pousada Serra do Jordao is located in a pleasant residential neighborhood in the Mantiqueira Mountain Region, surrounded by forest. The Capivari tourist district, with its shopping and dining, is a five-minute drive southeast and Campos do Jordao, Brazil's highest city, is a 10-minute drive southwest. Campos, has the feel of an alpine resort town with its relatively cool climate, cable car, and large number of German- and Swiss-style restaurants and bars. The town is a popular getaway for Brazilians, especially Paulistas (residents of Sao Paulo). 

Nearby outdoor activities abound, including hiking, mountain climbing, treetop cable car rides, and horseback riding. Palacio Boa Vista, the winter home of the Governer of Sau Paulo, is a five-minute drive away and the Baden Baden microbrewery is a 10-minute drive. The inn is two hours northeast of Sao Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport and two hours and 15 minutes northeast of the city of Sao Paulo. 

The 23 spacious rooms are clean, modern and bright, with upscale touches like hardwood floors, plush beds, and artwork. All feature private balconies with mountain or forest views, and some rooms have French doors. Rooms come in four types, and most are decorated in a scarlet, beige, and white color palette, although some are dominated by greens and ochres. Rooms lack blackout curtains, so morning light may creep in if curtains aren't tightly drawn. In-room amenities include free Wi-Fi, in-room safes, mini-fridges and 26" or 32"  wall-mounted flat-screen TVs with satellite channels. Bathrooms feature walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads, and some also have jetted tubs. 

As a small inn, Pousada Serra do Jordao has limited amenities, and there's no swimming pool, fitness room, sauna, steam room, or spa. Its chief feature is its free continental breakfast, served in a dining room with an alpine country feel that's warmly decorated with salmon-colored walls and red-check tablecloths. The room gets lots of natural light and offers views of the mountains and the city. The ample morning spread features freshly made cakes, breads, rolls, cold cuts, cheese, and seasonal fruits as well as coffee, tea, and juice. The TV room offers contemporary decor and has both a fireplace and a large flat-screen TV with satellite channels. The inn also offers free covered parking and free Wi-Fi throughout.
