This upscale chain hotel has an unbeatable central location right by the main train station. Its 459 Scandinavian-style rooms come with modern bathrooms and flat-screen TVs; Business Rooms have espresso machines, robes and slippers, and free breakfast. There's also an on-site restaurant, 24-hour room service, 13 meeting rooms that can fit 150 people, and the trendy SkyBar with modern decor and views of the city. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. 

In the heart of the Kista Science City -- a hub for innovative enterprises -- the 34-story, 299-room Scandic Victoria Tower caters mostly to business travelers working in the area. The modern high-rise hotel, designed by Swedish architect Gert Wingårdh, has 16 meeting/event rooms, a 34th-floor bar with panoramic views, and a 22nd-floor gym and sauna. Despite its popularity with business travelers, the hotel's rates are somewhat high for its mid-range caliber and its location too far from the center of Stockholm for tourists.

The 414-room Radisson Blu Waterfront is an upscale, business-friendly hotel that's connected to the landmark Congress Center in central Stockholm. While the immediate area isn't picturesque, the location is super-convenient for the central train station and the city center. While most rooms are on the small side, they are smart and clean, and some have good views of Lake Malaren, Riddarfjarden, or city hall. Business rooms face the water, and add Nespresso machines, scales, additional TV channels, and bathrobes. Breakfast and dining options are ample, but there's no spa facilities or pool. 

The Clarion Hotel Sign is a large, upscale chain hotel characterized by sleek architecture and a young, playful vibe. The location is excellent, opposite an attractive park and with most of the city center easily accessible on foot. Rooms are contemporary and well-maintained with plenty of space -- apart from the budget-level category -- while some feature great city views. Although breakfast can get busy, the food is generally very good and included. Most impressive is the heated rooftop pool -- a relatively rarity in Stockholm -- and while rates are a little higher than most, this certainly goes some way to justify them (as does the free hotel-wide Wi-Fi). 

An upscale business hotel on the edge of Stockholm's historic Gamla Stan neighborhood, the Sheraton Stockholm has 465 large, modern rooms, many of which have water views. A stalwart on the hotel scene since 1971, the hotel is minutes away from the central train station and right next to the City Hall. Its modern gym, happy hour offers, and upscale bistro make it a good choice for travelers who like a lot of amenities, and the Sheraton chain is also known for its comfortable beds and top-tier service. 

A two-block walk to Central Station (including airport express trains and metro), the Freys Hotel is an upscale, eco-friendly hotel with a quirky equine theme in the middle of Stockholm. Most of the 127 rooms are small -- especially standard level rooms -- though Superior Rooms are more spacious and some have balconies overlooking the street. Features include minibars and flat-screen TVs with cable channels, while some rooms also feature kitchenettes. A bustling Belgian restaurant on-site offers an outdoor terrace, a 300-plus beer selection, and an excellent free breakfast buffet. The hotel also has a good choice of meeting and conference rooms, and fast Wi-Fi is free of charge throughout the property. 

Clarion Hotel Amaranten is located on Stockholm's Kungsholmen island -- a quieter side of the city across the canal from the capital's center. The 461 rooms vary from small Moderate-level options with tiny bathrooms to spacious suites with private terraces and whirlpool tubs. All come with free Wi-Fi and 32-inch flat-screen TVs with cable channels, while higher-category rooms also include robes and slippers. There are two restaurants (featuring weekend DJs and a free breakfast buffet) and a gym with a small pool and sauna.
