Bottom Line

The four-pearl, 55-room Hotel Les Haras opened its doors in 2013 and has since established itself as one of the city’s most striking and atmospheric design hotels. It's housed in a large 18th-century heritage building that once held the national stables and stud farm near the Petite France district. Rooms have modern decor and gorgeous bathrooms, but some are a bit small. Breakfast is not included and is expensive. Other four-pearl hotels in the area include Hotel Rohan and Hotel Maison Rouge, which offer lower rates but are comparatively less atmospheric.

Oyster Hotel Review

Hotel Les Haras

Scene

Dazzling and elegant design hotel in converted stables

Popular with both business travelers and vacationing families, the Hotel Les Haras features interior decor by designers Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku. The exterior alone makes a striking impression: A broad building topped with a sloped shingled rooftop and fronted with massive stone arches, this hotel looks every bit the regal manor house. In truth, it's the former stables, and the interiors give hint to its past life with a vaguely equestrian theme. Leather seating and panels, natural wood accents, and horse silhouette murals meld nicely with the exposed brick and wooden beams throughout the historic structure. The hotel also has a pleasant outdoor terrace in a huge inner courtyard.

Rooms

Spacious and bright rooms with contemporary design accents and gorgeous bathrooms

Guest rooms at Hotel Les Haras are spacious, clean, bright, and modern, with thoughtful details including leather, saddle-stitched headboards, stools, and door handles. Some of the rooms have exposed rough-hewn ceiling beams, which while atmospheric, can be a bit low and a potential hazard for tall guests. In general the look is paired-down and masculine, with no artwork or bold colors to distract from the high-end furnishings. All rooms have air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, Wi-Fi access, minibars, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. The modern bathrooms are spacious and white with attractive copper fixtures and walk-in showers or shower/tub combos. Room size ranges from snug Classique Rooms to spacious Authetique Rooms. Superior and Deluxe Rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows with street or courtyard views, and some come with balconies. Accessible rooms are available.
