Scene

An upscale boutique resort with chic interiors, a peaceful beachfront location, and quality facilities

Sunset Coast Samui is a modern boutique resort featuring excellent leisure facilities and plenty of indoor and outdoor common areas where guests can relax. The biggest draw is the peaceful and scenic location, set in a secluded bay with a semi-private white-sand beach. The hotel features chic appointments throughout and has a stylish contemporary look. A large open-plan space houses the restaurant, lobby, and lounge -- all of which features chic elegant interiors such as marble floors, wood-clad ceilings, whitewashed accents, and comfy upholstered furniture. The resort is mostly popular with couples looking for a quiet romantic retreat, though it's also often frequented by families and solo travelers.

Location

Located in a scenic, but isolated, area on Samui's southern coast, far from Chaweng's nightlife

The hotel is set along the peaceful Thaling Ngam Beach, a quiet area on the southern tip of Samui, surrounded by coconut farms and sleepy fishing villages. The area offers plenty to do for nature lovers within a 30-minute transfer of the hotel, such as the pristine Koh Taen and Koh Madsum Islands, plus Na Mueang 1 and 2 waterfalls. However, there's limited dining options and little to no nightlife nearby. Lamai Beach is located a 30-minute drive from the hotel and the area features a decent selection of local bars, restaurants, and shops. Chaweng is a better bet for nightlife, with plenty of nightclubs, beach clubs, cabaret shows, and bars on offer. Chaweng also features an abundance of dining and shopping choices. Lomprayah catamaran speedboats connecting to Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, and Surat Thani (mainland) depart from the Maenam Pier, located a 40-minute drive away. Lomprayah has a reputation as being the most reliable and speediest transfer option, but it's priced higher than slower alternatives. Samui International Airport takes about an hour to reach from the hotel.

Rooms

Stylish and modern suites and private villa compounds with plunge pools and some ocean views

Sunset Coast Samui's rooms have lots of natural light and airflow and include balcony or terrace seating areas. Interiors have a fresh contemporary look. Villas feature high ceilings, whitewashed wood-clad interiors, light colored tile floors, recessed lighting, and upholstered furniture. Also, villas have large glass sliding doors that spill out onto private plunge pools and small outdoor lounge areas. Units are outfitted with wooden beds and quality mattresses, comfy sofas, outdoor seating, and roomy wardrobes. Standard amenities include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, safes, free Wi-Fi, empty mini-fridges, coffee- and tea-making facilities, plus two bottles of water. Beachfront Pool Villas (one- or two-bedroom options) offer huge floor plans and include lounge areas, kitchenettes, and roomy plunge pools with outdoor chill spaces.Bathrooms are clean and modern, and appointed with roomy rainfall showers, lots of countertop space, hairdryers, and a full set of toiletries. Villa bathrooms have more luxe features with marble interiors, long bathroom vanities with dual sinks, and walk-in closets.

Features

A white-sand beach, outdoor swimming pool, multi-cuisine restaurant, gym, and lobby lounge

Sunset Coast Samui Resort has a well rounded set of leisure facilities on offer. The main attraction is the serene setting and the peaceful white-sand beach it overlooks. All room rates include breakfast, which is served a la carte, with choices of eggs made-to-order, pancakes, salad, fresh fruits, and cereals, plus Thai rice and noodle dishes. Also, the breakfast is all you can eat. Snacks, soft drinks, and sandwiches are sold in The Pantry, a small 24/7 shop in the lobby. Adventure excursions, sightseeing tours, and vehicle rentals can be organized through reception. Freebies include Wi-Fi, once-daily return shuttles to Lamai Beach, and on-site parking.
