Pinnacle Koh Tao Dive Resort is a contemporary property that provides a well-priced stay right on the beach. First impressions are pleasant in the open-air lobby which has cozy seating, plenty of luscious plants and flowers, a serene pond, and stunning ocean views. Its soon after they arrive that visitors realize their rooms and villas cascade down a tropical cliffside filled with steep walkways. Thankfully, there’s a resort shuttle that can be called for pickups to get around. Some spaces feel a bit more stylish than the contemporary rooms, like the infinity-style swimming pool that overlooks the ocean or the chic white-tiled terrace of the restaurant and bar, which has lovely sunset views. In the evenings (and even during the day), it’s fairly quiet and relaxing. Even the reception packs up for the night and returns in the morning. The hotel does have its drawbacks like small cleaning issues and wonky electricity or Wi-Fi at times. However, it’s well-priced and is far more attractive for the natural environment that surrounds it. 

For travelers who want a quiet retreat along the Koh Tao coast, Pinnacle Koh Tao Dive Resort is a good choice. It sits on a mountainside in a remote location, with little nearby besides other hotels. However, the hotel understands the location is a bit of a struggle for some, so it provides a free shuttle to and from Mae Haad Pier three times per day (which is a nine-minute drive away). The pier is surrounded by shops, restaurants, and bars. It’s from Mae Haad Pier that guests can take ferries to Chumphon or Koh Sumai to hop on a plane. 

The 45 air-conditioned rooms feature a contemporary design with an up-beat atmosphere via colorful accents in pillows, towels, abstract paintings, and charming balconies with ocean views. Some of the rooms look more updated than others. The rooms offer amenities like flat-screen TVs, minibars, kettles, and free Wi-Fi (though it can be spotty). Seafront Villas are located closer to the pool and beach and have extra perks like upscale balcony furniture, private bungalow structures, and free minibars. 

Tan bathrooms have vessel sinks, toiletries, hairdryers, and showers. Though the rooms are generally clean, there have been some cleanliness complaints, reports of bugs (though this is a remote jungle location so that’s somewhat expected), and some maintenance issues. 

Pinnacle Koh Tao Dive Resort offers a decent set of features, such as a popular on-site dive center that provides diving itineraries, certification, and has its own speedboats to go to amazing dive locations. The private beach has some loungers and occupies a small cove with large rocks. There’s a lovely outdoor pool with a sun deck that overlooks the sea. The pool is serviced by a pool bar. The hotel’s restaurant and lounge bar offers Thai food and international specialties, along with lovely sunset views. A hot and cold breakfast buffet is included in the rate, but it can feel a bit uninspired and repetitive to some. Room service is available. There’s a small library lounge area with a public computer. Wi-Fi is free throughout, but may be a bit spotty at times.
