The 40-room Ban Sainai Resort is an upper-middle-range property nestled amid gorgeous tropical landscaping and views of Krabi's limestone karsts. Several restaurants and bars are within walking distance, but the beach is about a five-minute drive and the hotel provides free tuk-tuks to the shore. Rooms are spacious and have bright details, with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and air-conditioning. All also have balconies or terraces with lovely views. Breakfast is free, and lunch and dinner are also served, but beware that alcohol isn't available. The outdoor pool is beautiful and relaxing, and massage services can be arranged, but there is no spa. Guests who would like to be closer to the beach could check out the Anyavee Ban Ao Nang Bay Resort Krabi, which also has lower rates. 

The six-room Baan Habeebee Resort is a rustic two-and-a-half-pearl property located outside Ao Nang, about a five-minute ride from the beach. It's a quite, peaceful place with bungalows and a villa crafted of wood in a traditional Thai Lanna style. Rooms offer flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and balconies, and the two-bedroom villa has a private pool. There's not much in the way of features except a lovely outdoor pool, and while there's no proper restaurant or alcohol available, a free breakfast is offered and other meals can be ordered as well. Travelers looking for more action closer to the beach could check out the Aonang Villa Resort, which has a spa, fitness center, and on-site restaurants. Rates there are just slightly higher.

Aonang Fiore Resort is a beautifully landscaped hillside property at the end of Ao Nang’s main drag. The 70-acre property has several elements that make it a one-of-a-kind stay for the area: extensive organic gardens filled with flowers, fruit trees, and butterflies; an on-site zip-line park; and 79 hexagonal cottages built into the side of a mountain. These domed cottages and villas offer (alcohol-free) minibars, coffee/tea facilities, and private balconies looking over the lush property and the iconic Krabi cliffs beyond. Other notable property features include an infinity pool with splendid views, a halal restaurant focusing on seafood, and a coffee shop. No other Ao Nang hotel offers a comparable experience, but if beach proximity is a priority, go for a place like The L Resort Krabi or Aonang Buri Resort instead.

The lovely Ao Nang Phu Phi Maan Resort & Spa is a boutique halal resort located a 20-minute walk from Ao Nang Beach. The resort offers something that few area hotels do: quiet outdoor space -- all rooms have good-sized balconies, and there are two wonderful pool areas, an infinity-pool terrace and a garden pool. The 77 rooms, suites, and villas are stylish and spacious, with glossy wood floors, dark-wood furnishings, and big bathrooms. Some rooms have direct pool access or private infinity pools. The hotel also has two halal restaurants, a fitness center, a kids' room, and a spa. No alcohol is served on-site and it is far from the beach, so this isn't the place for partiers wanting to be in the center of the action. By comparison, L Resort Krabi has a central beachfront location, a pool bar, and alcoholic minibars in the rooms.

The Centara Anda Dhevi is one of Ao Nang's more elegant resorts. Located on a side street just up from the beach in central Ao Nang, the Centara is surrounded by other high-end boutique properties. Thai-style rooms have balconies or terraces as well as marble bathrooms with separate tubs and rainfall showers. There's a large swimming pool with a small waterslide, and the on-site Palm Court Restaurant is among Ao Nang's finest, serving gourmet international cuisine. The only major drawback beside the high room rates is that the nearby beach isn't the most pleasant in the area. 

The 34-room AliSea Boutique Hotel is an upper-middle-range property located off the main road in Ao Nang, within walking distance of beaches, restaurants, bars, and shops. Its attractive rooms are styled with charming a mix of Thai and Mediterranean decor, and they feature air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and balconies or terraces. Some have outdoor tubs. The hotel's Italian restaurant gets rave reviews, and the rooftop infinity pool is a big plus, as is the spa. A billiard table and small cinema room are popular on rainy days. Travelers who would prefer to be right on the beach could check out the Golden Beach Resort, where breakfast is included in its room rates. 

A 2018 arrival, the upper-middle-range Panan Krabi Resort has a chic, contemporary look that is sharp enough to stand out in Ao Nang. In addition to trendy decor, the 199-room hotel has an all-day restaurant with a great free breakfast, a kids' club, an activity program for all ages, and two pools with bars. The rooftop infinity pool is a noteworthy feature for downtown Ao Nang (few properties have this), plus it has, at this writing, some of the town's best and clearest views of the cliffs (which may be compromised by new construction). The large, air-conditioned rooms have minibars, flat-screen TVs, and private balconies. Some rooms have swim-out terraces connecting to the main pool, and others have private whirlpool terraces. BlueSotel is a comparably modern and priced property; it adds a spa, but is slightly farther from the beach and loses the rooftop pool and bar.

The 40-room Phu Pha Ao Nang Resort and Spa is a mid-range hotel off Krabi's pretty Ao Nang Beach. Rooms are housed in separate four-unit buildings, and all have private terraces or balconies, along with air-conditioning. On-site features include a small spa, a tiny fitness center, and a small pool area with lounge chairs, drink service, and perhaps too much shade. For something a little more elegant and with a bigger pool, guests may want to compare rates at the nearby Golden Beach Resort, which also has direct beach access.

Decked out in red tones, with an ambient lobby and large happening pool area, the cutting-edge Red Ginger Chic Resort is about as fashionable and boutique a property as you will find in Ao Nang. Rooms come with stylish robes, beach baskets, free Wi-Fi, and satellite TV, and all come with pool views or direct pool access. The swimming pool and its trendy pool bar are the centerpiece of the resort, and there's a meeting room and a fitness room but they're small. The mid-range resort is just minutes from the beach and plenty of drinking and dining choices in central Ao Nang.

The Ananta Burin Resort is a smallish boutique hotel located on the aptly nicknamed Soi Chic, a side road running up from the main beach road that's home to some of the better properties in Ao Nang. The rooms here are a mix of Thai and modern styles, and while not overly spacious, they do have balconies. A large swimming pool sits at the heart of the resort, and while there is no fitness center and only a tiny massage area, there is a gourmet eatery, Buddy Restaurant, which serves excellent Thai and seafood dishes. The upper-mid-range resort is not quite of the same caliber as some of its neighbors, but it's also not as expensive. The closest beach takes under 10-minutes to reach on foot, but the water is shallow and the shore is rocky.

LaRio Hotel Krabi is a 25-room value hotel located 20 minutes by foot from the beach in Ao Nang. Built in 2017, the hotel has a fresh and stylish coastal-inspired design (picture lots of blues and rattan accents) throughout its common areas and rooms. Guest rooms come with flat-screen TVs, minibars, and free safes, and larger units -- including two-bedroom suites with bunk beds -- are great options for families and groups. In the mornings, a simple breakfast is served in a small breakfast room alongside LaRio's narrow dipping pool. Guests generally love the hotel for its tidiness, modern design, and friendly staff. Nonetheless, it's worth comparing LaRio's rates to the ones at the across-the-street Centra by Centara Phu Pano Resort Krabi, which has a full-service restaurant and a proper swimming pool.

Green View Village Resort is a 29-room property close to the stunning cliffs of Ao Nang -- and away from the town's traffic and party scene. A huge range of rooms, from single rooms to freestanding villas, suit various budgets and traveler types. There are several units for families or groups, with multiple beds and bunks in some. Key features include two pools and an on-site restaurant. Other than that, there's not much to do on-site, but Green View's position near the main road means it's easy to get out and explore the town and islands. A block away, Centra by Centara Phu Pano Resort Krabi offers an alternative with more modern rooms for only slightly higher rates; however, some travelers will prefer the village-like vibe of Green View to its seven-story, corporate-style neighbor. 

Buri Tara Resort is a mid-range value resort smack-dab between Ao Nang and Nopparatara beaches. Its 70 rooms have lovely jewel-toned color schemes, plus amenities like minibars, free Wi-Fi, and balconies or terraces, some of which lead directly into the pool with a swim-up bar. Other common features include an all-day restaurant and a room for communal Thai massages, though there is no workout area. The resort is a good bet for its low prices, solid features, and convenient location between the two beaches (busy Ao Nang and sleepier Nopparatara). Note that the hotel is slightly set back from the beach road and any views of the water are blocked by a small mountain; for a beachfront property, look into Krabi Resort, though its starting rates are twice as much.
