A branch of the InterContinental brand, this hotel delivers on all of the brand's standards. Style is sharp, simple, and high-end, and the polish is evident everywhere from the hotel's lobby to its restaurants, fitness center, and guest rooms. The lobby is a grand and airy atrium filled with natural light that has a sleek, contemporary look and eye-catching sculptures. Bamboo and other native plants are set throughout the space and add some greenery to dominant stone hues in the the flooring and walls. Like most InterContinental hotels, there is a corporate feel to the property and it mainly attracts business guests due to its Shinagawa location and facilities for business guests. Many tourists do stay here, though, and the property is also popular for weddings as it has a chapel on-site. It's a contemporary and intimate space with modern tube-style lights that hang centrally above the aisle. 

The hotel is enviably located in Shinagawa, one of the city's leading business districts. The entrance is on the 26th floor of the building, which is located next to Shinagawa Train Station and is connected to the station by an internal walkway. In the immediate neighborhood there are a large number of shops, restaurants, and cafes, plus many office buildings belonging to large companies such as Sony. It's less than a 10-minute walk to Shinagawa Prince Hotel, a huge complex with a movie theater and bowling alley, as well as the EPSON Aqua Park, a popular aquarium. Shinagawa Station makes subway and train access super easy. The hotel is a bit far from tourist-friendly locations like the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, which will take 40 minutes to reach by subway, and it's about 30 minutes to Shibuya. Haneda Airport is around 20 minutes away by car or public transport, while Narita International Airport takes around 90 minutes to reach by train (or 60 minutes by car).

The 206 guest rooms at The Strings by InterContinental Tokyo are available as Classic and Executive Rooms or Suites. The elegant decor is a mix of contemporary Western and Japanese design. The hotel’s Dining Room restaurant offers a fusion of Asian and European cuisines in a chic, softly-lit room with crisp white linen tablecloths and a view of the open kitchen. It's open all day for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. It also has a separate vegetarian menu. The Dining Room also has a bar with an extensive wine and cocktail list, as well as serving hot and cold drinks throughout the day. China Shadow is the hotel's more informal restaurant where a selection of modern Cantonese dishes are offered. It is open for lunch and dinner. Twenty-four-hour room service is also available. The hotel has a 24-hour fitness center on-site where there is a range of cardio equipment plus free weights and a sauna.
