The hotel’s trim black-and-brown exterior looks quite elegant and inviting, particularly in comparison to the relatively shabby shops that surround it. Inside, a dangling chandelier and a gleaming black fireplace in the lobby add some charm to the lobby, set with four armchairs upholstered in polkadot patterns. The common areas, including the breakfast area, are quite small, making the hotel best suited to guests prepared to get in-and-out rather than those hoping to linger and socialize. Guests are mostly tourists who want easy access to the nearby sights, restaurants, and nightlife at an affordable rate.

The Comfort Inn City Centre is set in an unattractive, slightly rundown location in Toronto’s Garden District. Although the area around the hotel isn’t immediately appealing, it’s about a half-a-mile away from the vibrant dining and nightlife scenes found at Dundas Square, as well as around the Church and Wellesley and Yonge and College intersections. Both the College and Dundas subway stations can be reached in less than 10 minutes on foot, providing quick transport to more far-flung areas of the city.  The hotel is also less than a minute’s walk away from Ryerson University, and 10 minutes away from shopping at the Toronto Eaton Centre. There isn't any parking on-site. 

Rooms are neat and business-like, decorated in gray tones, dark brown woods, and crisp stripe patterns. Yellow-and-blue flower artwork is identical from room-to-room, and adds an eye-catching pop of color. All room categories feature flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers, some include a countertop area with a sink. Some rooms feature a separate living area with a sofa bed, and all rooms provide either a desk or small table-and-chairs set-up. The gray color scheme continues in the sleek bathrooms, which are stocked with off-brand bath products. Some include a shower/tub combo, while others offer a shower only.  

Free breakfast is offered daily in a small, dark dining room on the hotel’s lower level. Upstairs, there’s a tiny fitness center equipped with one treadmill and one elliptical machine. There’s also a compact business center with a couple of armchairs, a single personal computer, and a printer station. Free coffee is offered all day in the lobby, and Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. The hotel welcomes pets for a fee.
