The glamorous Fairmont Royal York is one of Toronto's grand dames, with hand-painted ceilings and chandeliers that harken back to the hotel's opening as the Royal York in 1929. Some rooms are on the small side (not uncommon in a historic hotel), and the beds and furniture look a little generic for a luxury property. But the location is as good as it gets: The hotel is connected by underground PATH walkways to Union Station, Air Canada Centre, Eaton Centre, and the Hockey Hall of Fame, and is blocks from shopping on Yonge Street.

Located in Toronto's Financial District, and blocks away from the Distillery District and Entertainment District, The Fairmont Royal York sits across the street from Union Station and is connected to the station, Air Canada Centre, a sports arena, Eaton Centre, a large shopping mall, and the Hockey Hall of Fame, by underground PATH walkways.
Once an industrial park, Toronto's Entertainment District is now a bustling home to nightclubs, theaters, such as Roy Thomson Hall where the Toronto Symphony Orchestra performs, and Rogers Centre, the Blue Jays' stadium. The nearby Financial District is composed of skyscrapers housing law firms, corporate headquarters, and offices and the Distillery District is one of Toronto's historic gems. The district got it's name from the Gooderham and Worts Distillery, formerly in operation in the area as the largest distillery in the world.
