Bottom Line

Le Vele Resort is an upscale, 22-room beachfront boutique with luxe accommodations and a quiet atmosphere. Studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments feature contemporary decor, sleek kitchens with stainless steel appliances, oceanfront balconies, and handy amenities like in-unit washer/dryers. The hotel has a mid-size rectangular pool, a small beachfront, and a fitness center, but otherwise there’s not much to do. Guests looking for similarly chic accommodations with a livelier atmosphere might prefer the Gansevoort, but it's usually more expensive.

Le Vele Resort

Scene

A contemporary resort with a quiet atmosphere

Composed of two white, Art-Deco inspired buildings, Le Vele Resort has a chic, South Beach vibe that feels different from many of its neighbors. Unlike South Beach, however, Le Vele’s atmosphere is serene — almost quiet enough to hear a pin drop. Guests are mostly adults, typically couples or families with older kids. There’s no poolside music, no lively beach bar, and certainly no rowdy spring breakers. Instead Le Vele is a place where guests come to relax and unwind without interruption.

The lobby at Le Vele Resort is a bright, airy space with vaulted ceilings and lots of windows. There’s a front desk, a communal computer, and a velvety blue ottoman in the center of the room.  It’s not particularly memorable— we’d even venture to say it feels a tad clinical — and reminds us more of a car dealership than a hotel entryway.

Location

On Grace Bay, within walking distance of shops, bars, and restaurants

Le Vele Resort is located on Grace Bay, a 12-mile stretch of sand that is often ranked as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Besides having a prime oceanfront location, Le Vele is also within walking distance of Grace Bay’s downtown hub, which is filled with shops, restaurants, and a few bars. Guests who are primarily looking to spend their days lounging by the beach probably wouldn’t need to rent a car, as cabs are readily accessible (albeit expensive!). But for those looking to do some island exploration, renting a car is recommended. Just remember to drive on the left! Le Vele Resort is about a 15-minute drive from Providenciales International Airport.

Rooms

Oceanfront apartments with sleek decor and beachy accents

Rooms at Le Vele are as sleek and modern as the hotel’s exteriors. Studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments are individually decorated, but typically feature light tile floors, a sliver, gray, and white color scheme, and crisp white furniture and bedding. Beachy accents, such as rattan headboards, knotty carved wood tables, and framed black and white beach scenes, add an island feel to the contemporary spaces. Kitchens are equipped with stainless steel appliances, convection burners, and plenty of pots, pans, utensils, cups, and place settings. Bathrooms are just as sleek as the living spaces, with glass enclosed showers, granite counter tops, and vessel sinks. Each unit also has its own front-loading washer/dryer set. All apartments have large oceanfront balconies or patios with outdoor dining tables. At 1,140 square feet (106 square meters), One-Bedroom Suites are more than double the size of the Studio Suites, so some will find the upgrade worthwhile.

Features

A pool, a beach, and a few freebies

There aren’t many features at Le Vele Resort, which leaves the hotel with a quiet, tranquil atmosphere throughout the day. Grace Bay is the main draw here, although the stretch of sand in front of the hotel is somewhat narrower than other parts of the beach. The hotel provides a few lounge chairs and white umbrellas, but don’t expect beach attendants or servers proffering fruity drinks. The mid-size rectangular pool doesn’t overlook the beach, but is instead located behind the hotel’s two main buildings (a common practice in Providenciales). The pool is surrounded by gorgeous teak lounge chairs with thick white cushions. On either end of the pool, there is a small roofed structure with additional seating and a barbecue grill. The entire patio area is surrounded by green shrubbery, large pots overflowing with red flowers, and swaying palms. A small table with pool towels and rafts sits in the corner. During the day, the pool is completely serene, but some guests wish there was a pool bar or some kind of poolside drink service.

As far as amenities are concerned, the hotel has a small fitness center, but no restaurant or spa. Parking, Wi-Fi, and use of the hotel’s bicycles are free for all guests.
