Set at the end of a packed sand road (the paved highway ends around a half-mile prior to the resort gates), Northwest Point Resort is the perfect destination for guests looking to truly get away from it all. This remote beachfront property feels completely removed from Grace Bay’s string of chic resorts, yet most of the island’s attractions are a reasonable 20- to 30-minute drive away. 

“Resort” is kind of a misnomer for this condo-hotel property, which lacks the typical amenities that guests might expect with that word -- there’s no spa, no pool bar, and no fitness center. The on-site restaurant is only open during the high season, though all units come with full kitchens and there’s a grocery store found within a 20-minute drive.

With neat landscaping and Spanish-style architecture, the grounds of Northwest Point Resort look more upscale than the condo units themselves. It's a setting that lends itself well to long, leisurely beach strolls and afternoons spent reading by the pool. However, guests looking for nightlife and dining would be better off staying in Grace Bay. But those seeking relaxation and solitude have found it.

Northwest Point Resort is among the more isolated resorts on Providenciales, located around a 20-minute drive from the attractions of Grace Bay. With nothing found within walking distance, a car is essential for guests staying here -- particularly because the property’s only restaurant isn’t open year-round. The resort is set on the outskirts of Northwest Point National Park, which is known for its rugged cliffs and excellent birdwatching opportunities. The nearest grocery store can be reached in about 20 minutes by car, while Providenciales International Airport is a 15-minute drive away. 

Northwest Point Resort is comprised of large, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. Units are individually owned and therefore no two are exactly alike, but the decor tends to be beachy and slightly dated -- think busy floral and tropical prints, light wood or rattan furniture, tile floors, and kitschy knickknacks like seashells. Units are well-kept, but guests may notice the occasional issue -- for example, one of the balcony door locks in our unit was broken. 

Big, open-concept living areas include dining tables and sitting areas with flat-screen TVs, sofas, and armchairs. Full kitchens offer refrigerators, stoves with ovens, and dishwashers, plus washers and dryers are standard. Free Wi-Fi is available in most units. Plain bathrooms offer off-brand bath products and roomy vanities. Some bathrooms have showers with plastic doors and others have shower/tub combos. Each unit includes a balcony or terrace furnished with patio tables or loungers -- some feature ocean views while others overlook the pool and landscaped grounds. 

As a condo-style property, Northwest Point lacks the features of traditional resorts, but it does have a lovely, lagoon-style pool surrounded by colorful flowers and palm trees. The wide deck bordering the pool, which offers distant ocean views, is lined with rattan loungers. There’s also a small, separate hot tub. 

While not on Providenciales’ iconic Grace Bay, the property offers direct access to a gorgeous, white sand beach fringed by an attractive strip of grass. Stretching for miles along the coast, it’s a serene spot for walking and beachcombing. A lot of seaweed tends to collect on the sands, but the staff do a good job of clearing it each day. The resort provides free kayaks and paddle boards. 

There’s a modest, open-air restaurant set adjacent to the pool, done up in white wood-beam ceilings and dark rattan chairs. The food is quite decent, but the restaurant is only open during the high season -- even when it’s open, guests generally need to book dinners in advance because staff tend to close up early if there are no reservations.  There’s a newish BBQ on the grounds available for guests as well. 

The resort advertises 24-hour reception, but we were unable to get ahold of anyone later in the evening during our stay. Free Wi-Fi is offered in the common areas, as well as in most units. There’s free parking on-site, too.
