Bottom Line

Situated on Providenciales’ Leeward coast, The Atrium Resort is a quiet upper-middle-range condo property suited to families or couples looking for a relaxing escape. Though it’s not on the beach, The Atrium has a beautiful mosaic tile pool, where many guests choose to leisurely spend their days. Other amenities include a fitness center, a game room, and a mini-market, but the hotel isn’t within walking distance to any shops, restaurants, or bars. Blue Haven Resort is a pricier option on the Leeward coast, and it has two restaurants, a beachfront, more amenities, and nicer accommodations.

The Atrium Resort

Scene

A quiet, condo-style resort that attracts a lot of long-term visitors

From the road, The Atrium doesn’t appear particularly grand. A sand-colored, columned portico marks the property’s main entryway, which leads down an unremarkable hallway to the lobby. With low-hanging ceilings, two-toned beige walls, and two brown leather couches on either side of the room, the lobby feels like its belongs in an office building rather than a Caribbean hotel. The front desk is rarely occupied, but guests can ring a bell for prompt service. Past the lobby, the hall opens up to a massive inner courtyard, where the gorgeous mosaic tile pool makes a better first impression than anything at the hotel’s entrance. The pool is surrounded on all sides by three, three-story buildings and plenty of swaying palms.

Atrium guests run the gamut, from families with young children, to middle-aged couples, to retirees. Many guests are drawn to the Atrium for its reasonably priced (by Turks and Caicos standards) long-term rental options. In fact, many Atrium guests are long-term visitors who make the resort their home for weeks or months at a time.

Location

On Provo's Leeward coast, about a 10-minute drive from Grace Bay

The Atrium Resort is located on Providenciales’s northeastern tip, otherwise known as the Leeward coast. The Leeward coast is mostly residential, and is about a 10- to 15-minute drive from the downtown Grace Bay area. Atrium guests will want to rent a car, as there is nothing within walking distance of the hotel, and island taxi prices are exorbitant. The Atrium is a two-minute drive from the nearest beach (Pelican Beach), about a 10-minute drive to public beach access on Grace Bay, and about a 20-minute drive from Providenciales International Airport. Just remember that Turks and Caicos abides by left-side traffic laws.

Rooms

Apartments with full kitchens and tasteful decor

Rooms at The Atrium aren’t as luxe as some of their Grace Bay counterparts, but the resort’s one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments are spacious and tastefully decorated. Travertine floors, speckled granite counters, and chocolate-colored kitchen cabinets and leather sofas give living spaces a classically modern ambience. Bedrooms have sleek dark wood furniture, and beds are dressed in white, waffled bed spreads. All master bedrooms have marble en-suite bathrooms with glass enclosed showers and separate jetted tubs.

Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen with a large refrigerator, convection range, oven, microwave, and a dishwasher. Cabinets are stocked with necessities like pots, pans, plates, and utensils. Living rooms feature leather sofas, a small dining table, and a flat-screen TV. Apartments are also equipped with front loading washer/dryer units, and all have outdoor balconies or patios. Though most apartments have different layouts, all have open-concept floor plans and nearly identical decor.

Features

A gorgeous pool, a fitness center, and a mini-market are the highlights here.

The Atrium’s gorgeous pool complex is without a doubt its nicest amenity. The tranquil pool area has a Grecian air to it, thanks to a series of slatted roof colonnades and Ionic-style mosaic work on the pool’s floor. The pool is split in two halves by an arched bridge that guests can walk across or swim under. There’s a water feature in one corner, and a swim-up bar in the other, although the swim-up bar seemed to be closed or out of use during our visit. Many Atrium guests spend their days lounging by the pool, especially considering the nearest beach is about a two-minute drive from the hotel. For beach-bound guests, the hotel does provide towels and beach chairs.

Other on-site amenities include a small (and dark) fitness center, a game room, and a mini-market. The fitness center is cramped with equipment and lacks natural light. The unexciting game room overlooks the pool and has a billiards table, a ping-pong table, and a few leather sofas. Although there is no on-site restaurant, The Atrium does have a small market, known as The Atrium Bazaar, which sells light snack items, coffee, bottles of wine, and vacation essentials like sunscreen and bug spray. Additionally, parking and Wi-Fi are free for all guests.
