The Hotel One Shot Colon 46 is part of a small chain with an art focus, and its stylish philosophy is on display throughout. For instance, the lobby and hallways have geometric tile mosaics on the floors, midcentury modern furniture, and lots of moody slate gray accents. There are temporary exhibitions of photographs by local artists that give the hotel a unique feel. The One Shot’s breakfast room is petite but pretty, with hardwood floors and walls painted a muted sage, reflecting the greenery that's on show through a bank of windows that flood the space with natural light. The room has chairs in understated shades of orange, yellow, and navy, and exposed filament bulbs, while the breakfast spread is laid out on stripped wooden shelves at the far end of the room. Inside the hotel’s lift is a giant chalkboard listing what’s happening and the weather in Valencia that day. The One Shot tends to attract couples looking for a stylish stay in the city center.

Situated along the Carrer Colon, one of Valencia’s main shopping boulevards, the One Shot Colon 46 benefits from being close to the city’s major sights, as well as transport links throughout the city and farther afield. There are numerous shops just outside the property, including a branch of famed department store El Corte Inglés, plus several bars and restaurants within a five-minute walk of the hotel. 

Meanwhile, it’s a 10-minute walk to Valencia’s cathedral, through the historic part of the city, and its tangled maze of cobbled streets. In the other direction, the awe-inspiring City of Arts and Sciences complex is an eight-minute drive, or a 20-minute bus ride. Colon metro station is a three-minute walk from the hotel, while it is a five-minute walk to Estacio del Nord, Valencia’s main train station, where travelers can catch local trains and RENFE services across Spain. Expect transfers to Valencia Airport to take around 20 minutes by car, or 30 by metro. 

The 50 rooms are every bit as stylish and midcentury modern as the shared areas downstairs, with hardwood floors, walls painted a tasteful dove gray, and bed frames and asymmetrical headboards painted either olive-green, maroon, purple, or blue. Standard Rooms have beds topped with white linens, desk with chairs, open wardrobes with shelving and hanging space. These rooms look out over an interior courtyard, and a rather scrappy set of inside walls. Superior Rooms, meanwhile, have views over the Carrer Colon. As the name suggests, Balcony Rooms, up at the top of the building, have small terraces that overlook the boulevard. Bathrooms are clean and contemporary, with light slate tiles on the walls and floors, and blond-wood slats lining the room’s glass-walled rainfall showers. All rooms have a flatscreen TV, safe, AC, and minibar that can be filled on request, plus fast, free Wi-Fi.

The One Shot Colon 46 does not offer its guests a great range of amenities, although given its city-center location, this may not be a concern for many. Most past guests enjoyed the buffet breakfast, which includes a range of cakes, breads, patisseries, fresh fruit, cheese, and local Serrano ham, plus cooked options -- although all this does come at a cost. There are no other meals served on-site, and no wellness facilities offered. A small meeting room for business guests is on-site. Guests coming by car should be aware that the hotel does not have its own dedicated parking, and spots in this part of town can be hard to find and expensive. There are electric bikes available for hire from the front desk, and the hotel has fast, free Wi-Fi throughout.
