A metal sculpture hangs from the ceiling -- similar statues are showcased outdoors in the interior courtyard where orange trees have been planted. There's also a wall water fountain, though it needs a thorough cleaning. The lounge bar is livened up with lime green dining chairs and a glass wall embellished with a musical note pattern.

With a bus stop right outside, the hotel is in the middle of an urban neighborhood, directly in front of Aqua shopping mall and a high-end car dealership. The mall has restaurants, a movie theater, and fashion stores like Zara, Benetton, and Levi’s. Expect a 12-minute drive to La Malvarrosa Beach and about a 15-minute walk to the City of Arts and Sciences, a complex known for its innovation.

Primus Valencia's rooms have hardwood floors and soft white bedding. The overall design scheme is minimalist with clean lines and long, narrow photographs of the city's attractions hanging over the beds. Suites include gray sectional sofas. Each room comes with a minibar, bathrobes, and flat-screen satellite TV. Bathrooms have shower/tub combinations, square white sinks, and enough space to unpack toiletries on the vanity counter. Though there's a separate water closet, the transparent glass door doesn't allow for much privacy. Guests have complained of lingering cigarette odors as smoking is permitted in some rooms.

There are quite a few luxe features at Primus Valencia, but expect to pay for them. Menorca XXII serves Mediterranean style cuisine, and there's a small lobby bar for coffee and cocktails. Downstairs, there's a full spa with treatment rooms and a small indoor pool, along with a Turkish hammam. The fitness center is free to use -- it's bigger than the one at nearby Hotel Conqueridor -- as is the Wi-Fi. Business travelers should note the hotel has an extensive setup for meetings with seven conference rooms.
