From the street, Residence Corte Grimani is a a tall, relatively unmarked and unassuming building rising six floors. Falling somewhere in between a hotel and a guesthouse, this homey spot has traditionally furnished apartment-style rooms that can house up to six guests at a time. For groups looking to save money by sharing quarters and cooking in, this is a great option, especially for this popular, touristy location. There aren't many options in Venice with both hotel services (such as the daily housekeeping found here) and kitchenettes. 

Since the hotel only has one common area and all the rooms are more like apartments, there's not much socializing among guests and the hotel remains surprisingly quiet for being in such a busy area. Warm lights, a contemporary curved wooden reception desk, and cushioned arm chairs and a sofa greet you in the lobby, which is one of the property's more impressive areas in terms of style. The sitting area off of reception feels a bit colder, slightly resembling a hospital waiting area with bucket chairs, vending machines, and orange and white tile floors. 

One of Residence Corte Grimani's best features is its San Marco location, giving it an easy walk score and allowing guests to visit major attractions without relying on taking boats through the canals. If you want to take a gondola ride, the hotel overlooks on of the main departure points, Orseolo Basin. St. Mark's Square, St. Mark's Basilica, and the Bridge of Sighs can be reached on foot in under five minutes, and it's about six minutes on foot to the Rialto Bridge. The main train station and bus terminal are about 30 minutes on foot, and reaching Marco Polo airport takes about an hour and 15 minutes by ferry. 

Decor in the 15 apartment-style rooms is traditional and charming, if a little spare; the wood-beam ceilings are a highlight. All rooms come with clean and basic kitchenettes with dual electric burners, microwaves, mini-fridges, and plenty of cabinet space. Units also have air-conditioning, flat-screen satellite TVs, safes, washing machines, and bathrooms with tubs, hairdryers, and basic toiletry kits. 

Classic Standard Apartments can sleep two to five people and have a separate bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. Upgrading to the Classic with View comes with views over the rooftops of Venice. The highest category, Superior, can sleep up to six people and has a bit more character in the decor. These rooms have two bedrooms (one with a full sofa bed), a living room with sofa bed, and two bathrooms, one with a shower and one with a tub. 

Family features (in addition to the large rooms) include babysitting services, and cribs (on request). Kids five and under stay for free. 

The standout feature of this hotel would be the location, beyond that, there's not much on offer here outside of the common lobby space and vending machine room with tables and chairs. The vending machine sells snacks and drinks there's also a small coffee-on-demand machine. Hotel services include a 24-hour reception desk, free local calls from rooms, free Wi-Fi, and daily housekeeping service.
