The boutique hotel Palazzo Sant'Angelo sul Canal Grande is housed in a late-19th-century palazzo that looks classically Venetian, from the decor to the Grand Canal lapping at the sides of the building. The lobby decor is typical of many Venice hotels, with polished tile floors, ornate wooden furniture, and richly patterned rugs. Large glass doors at the entrance and plain, neutrally painted walls add a more modern touch. Potted plants, wooden cabinets filled with curios, and a mannequin dressed in traditional Venetian finery fill the lobby. There's plenty of space to sit and relax, from sofas in the lobby to armchairs in the bar, which has Grand Canal views. The breakfast room continues the classical Venetian theme, with upholstered chairs and stately wallpaper. There's also a small patio overlooking the canal where guests can enjoy coffee and watch the boats go by. The small hotel primarily attracts tourist couples.

As locations go, the Palazzo Sant'Angelo sul Canal Grande's is hard to beat. It's right on the Grand Canal, with its own water taxi launch, and there's a vaporetto stop just across the street. It couldn't be easier to get around the city on the water from here, but all the main sights are also in walking distance. The Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Square are both less than 10-minutes away on foot. The immediate area has plenty of museums and good restaurants, and Campo Santo Stefano, a plaza with lots of great restaurants, is very close by.

The hotel's 26 rooms have bold, red-and-white decor with patterned red carpets, striped wallpaper, and crisp, white linens. The overall feel is opulent and historic, but perhaps a little overdone. Marble tiled bathrooms have jetted tubs, and bathrobes and slippers are provided. Some suites have small balconies and views of the Grand Canal, but the incredible views also come with a bit of noise from the traffic on the water. All rooms have fully stocked minibars, flat-screen TVs, and free newspapers. Some guests complain of minor wear around the edges and thin walls.

The hotel's Sant'Angelo Bar has a marble floor, brocade seating, and excellent Grand Canal views, and it serves snacks and drinks during the day until late in the evening. A free buffet breakfast is served daily in the breakfast room, which has heavy wood wall panels and a bright, patterned carpet. There's a small meeting room and a desk in the lobby with a computer and printer. Guests pay a charge for using Wi-Fi in public areas.
