The BEST WESTER PLUS Amedia Wien is a tasteful business and family-friendly hotel a small step above the mid-range masses. The six-story beige facade is nothing special, particularly in contrast to the ornate architecture found throughout the city, but the inside is clean and contemporary. Throughout, dark wood furniture is paired with rich red and black accents and fresh white walls. Decor doesn't exactly feel personal, but everything is clean and functional. The lobby features a reception desk, a designated smoking area, and a small bar, then continues on into a stylish breakfast room with wood floors, red pleather bench seating, chrome-legged stools, and skylights that let in natural light. Guests run the gamut from tourists to business travelers, especially those who want to save a bit by staying outside the city center.

The Amedia Wein is situated on a busy main road right across from a supermarket in Vienna’s densely populated Landstrasse district. While the area is mostly residential, shopping and dining establishments do line the street, though popular tourist sites closer to the city center aren't within a walkable radius. Bus and tram stops are in easy walking distance, though: The Viehmarktgasse tram stop is a three-minute walk from the hotel, while the Kardinal-Nagl-Platz subway stop is an eight-minute walk. The heart of Old Town can be reached in about 30 minutes by public transit, while Vienna International Airport can be reached in under 30 minutes or a 14-minute drive.

Guest rooms are well-sized, clean, and contemporary with basic decor: crimson carpeting, dark wood furnishings, and fire-engine red accents, including square pleather chairs, set against mostly empty white walls. Suites add larger sitting area or terraces. Bathrooms, covered in broad red and black tiles, have a bold look that feels like a throwback to the '80s. They're outfitted with long rectangular sinks and walk-in showers or combination showers and tubs. 

While decor can feel retro, amenities are modern: flat-screen TVs, tea and coffee service, electronic safes, lightly stocked minibars, free Wi-Fi, and free calls to 24 countries. Bathrooms include robes, slippers, hairdryers, and free individual toiletries. Guests occasionally complain about weak AC, and while street-facing rooms may get some traffic noise with the windows open, rooms are pretty well insulated. Room service is available 24 hours.
