Hanoi La Siesta Diamond Hotel & Spa

Hanoi, Vietnam

The Hanoi Elegance Diamond is an upscale boutique hotel that sits on a side street just off of Hoan Kiem Lake. It is a quiet spot, with easy access to the restaurants, bars, shops, and sights of the Old Quarter in five minutes on foot. The hotel's 34 stylish rooms are decorated with handsome wallpaper accent walls, wood floors, and plush velvet cushions, and come with modern amenities like free laptops, DVD players, and flat-screen TVs. The hotel has a small spa, as well as a rooftop restaurant and bar with excellent views of the lake and Hanoi (plus an outstanding free breakfast). Prices here are comparable to nearby Old Quarter properties like the Tirant Hotel, yet the Elegance Diamond offers larger and nicer rooms, though it lacks the Tirant's pool.

2

Hanoi La Siesta Hotel Trendy

Hanoi, Vietnam

From its eighth-story restaurant to its moody basement bar, the upscale Hanoi La Siesta Hotel Trendy offers a stylish, modern, and upscale boutique feel that’s still fresh from its 2016 opening. Indeed, past guests rave about the food (including a free breakfast buffet), the trendy bar, and the impeccable service. The hotel’s 70 rooms and suites are stylish with wood floors and furnishings and details like mosaic tiled entryways and tray ceilings, though bathrooms tend to be narrow and entry-level rooms lack exterior windows. There’s no on-site pool or gym, but the hotel has a spa with six treatment rooms. The property's Old Quarter location is excellent, in walking distance to eateries, markets, sights, and Hoan Kiem Lake. For similar amenities, travelers may want to compare rates with the nearby O'Gallery Premier Hotel & Spa.

3

Lantana Boutique Hotel Hoi An

Hoi An, Vietnam

The 34-room Lantana Boutique Hotel Hoi An is a lovely, upscale property a block from the Ancient Town. Rooms are cheerful and stylish, with painted floor tiles, local art on walls, free Wi-Fi, and great bathrooms with rain showers. Most have balconies, and many have views of the river, but a few are a tad compact. The restaurant serves a free, varied breakfast buffet, as well as excellent local cuisine for lunch and dinner, while the lantern-lit bar -- complete with riverside seating -- is an appealing spot for a drink in the evening. The pool is pleasant and spacious, but it is covered and the deck doesn’t get much sun. Rates at the Lantana are competitive, but travelers on a tighter budget may want to consider the Royal Riverside Hoi An Hotel, which is just a couple of blocks farther away from the center.

4

JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi

Hanoi, Vietnam

Opened in 2013, the 445-guest room JW Marriott Hanoi is one of the newer luxury hotels in Hanoi and aimed squarely at business travelers. The hotel is situated in an ultra-modern glass building located outside on the campus of the National Convention Center. Guest rooms and suites are spacious and light-filled; they have chic, contemporary decor and modern amenities like 42-inch flat-screens, DVD players, and iPod docks -- but in-room Wi-Fi incurs a fee. On-site features do not disappoint, and include three restaurants, an indoor lap pool, a 24-hour fitness center, and a spa. Guests in Executive Rooms and Suites enjoy free breakfast, snacks, and drinks in the Executive Lounge. InterContinental Hanoi Westlake is a comparable five-pearl alternative with similar amenities, including an outdoor pool and kids' pool.

5

Essence Hoi An Hotel & Spa

Hoi An, Vietnam

The 107-room Essence Hoi An Hotel & Spa is a four-pearl property located a 10-minute walk from restaurants, shops, and attractions in the Ancient Town. Rooms are elegant with classic decor that incorporates local touches. Free Wi-Fi, well-stocked minibars, and sleek bathrooms are standard. Most rooms have a balcony, and a few have spacious terraces with loungers and hot tubs. The focus here is on relaxation; there's a cute spa tucked away in the gardens, two beautiful pools with whirlpools and drink service, and lovely, lush grounds with lots of shaded areas and loungers. Food is tasty and reasonably priced (by upscale hotel standards), and an excellent breakfast buffet is included in all room rates. There are two kiddy pools and a number of Family Rooms, but those traveling with children may want to consider the Hoi An Historic Hotel, which has a kids’ club.

La Residencia . A Little Boutique Hotel & Spa

Hoi An, Vietnam

The 49-room La Residencia is a charming, upscale boutique with a central location an easy walk from the Ancient Town. Large rooms have an elegant mix of Portuguese colonial and traditional Vietnamese decor, clean bathrooms with rain showers, and solid amenities such as free Wi-Fi, well-stocked minibars, and big flat-screen TVs. All rooms have balconies, but some overlook a small interior courtyard that can make them dark. An array of massages and salon services are available at the spa, which features four rooms -- including one for couples -- and a sauna. The pool is big enough for laps and is heated in the winter, but it is covered and doesn’t get any sun. In this price range, the Hoi An Historic Hotel has a bigger outdoor pool and is also centrally located.

7

Salinda Resort Phu Quoc Island

Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam

With a beautiful stretch of beach, excellent cuisine, and a gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the sea, the 121-room Salinda Resort is one of the most luxurious hotels in this part of Phu Quoc. Rooms are large and airy, with upscale decor and amenities, free Wi-Fi, and great bathrooms with rain showers. The spa, complete with a wide array of signature massages and treatments, is one of the best around, and the fitness center is equipped with a range of well-maintained cardio and strength-training equipment. Although the hotel's focus on relaxation makes it popular with couples, the Salinda also offers plenty of options for families, including a cute kids’ club, a kiddy pool, and babysitting services. In this price range, the gorgeous Chen Sea Resort & Spa Phu Quoc offers a more intimate but similarly luxurious stay.

8

Hanoi Tirant Hotel

Hanoi, Vietnam

The upper-middle-range Hanoi Tirant Hotel is one of the larger properties in Hanoi's Old Quarter. While most hotels in this area have no facilities, the upscale Hanoi Tirant has a small rooftop swimming pool, a tiny gym, and even a stylish rooftop bar and restaurant with the best views in the entire neighborhood. The 80 modern rooms here have wooden floors and furniture, and all rooms come with computers, flat-screen TVs, and decorative glass-wall bathrooms. Located right in the heart of the Old Quarter, the hotel is as convenient as it gets for restaurants, bars, shops, and tourist sights. The Tirant is definitely a cut above most of the surrounding competition, although it's also priced slightly above the rest. The rooms are not better than some others in the area (like the Calypso Grand), but the extra facilities are worth it.

9

Sanouva Danang Hotel

Da Nang, Vietnam

The four-pearl Sanouva Danang Hotel is a stylish boutique property that offers one of the best values in the city center. Its 84 guest rooms are chic and spotless, and they're well-equipped with flat-screen TVs, minibars, kettles, free tea, coffee, and bottled water, and free Wi-Fi, and some units have sweeping city views. The full-service restaurant serves an excellent free breakfast spread with Asian and Western options, and the hotel has a spa with body treatments and two saunas, and a fitness center, although equipment is limited. Travelers looking to stay closer to the beach may want to compare rates with the Holiday Beach Danang Hotel & Resort.

10

Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi

Hanoi, Vietnam

The luxury Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi is located in the popular French Quarter, a four-minute walk from both the Opera House and Hoan Kiem Lake. The 364 guest rooms are beautifully designed with French-inspired accents, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. Suites add a 24-hour butler service. Three bars and three restaurants, ranging from French, Vietnamese, and Italian cuisine, are available. There's a buffet breakfast each morning, though this is not included in all room rates. Highlights include the outdoor swimming pool and full spa and fitness center. Business travelers will appreciate the six meeting rooms, event spaces, and a business center. There's little else available in this category in Hanoi, but the JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi offers a close second in terms of luxury, service, and features.

11

Silk Path Hotel

Hanoi, Vietnam

The Silk Path Hotel is one of the most upscale hotels in Hanoi's Old Quarter, providing far more facilities than most properties in this neighborhood. The 106-room hotel is located on the edge of the old town, and it's a 10-minute walk to Hoan Kiem Lake. Rooms have modern, clean, carpeted interiors, and flat-screen TVs, plus free Internet and rainfall showers in some. An elegant breakfast buffet is served for a fee, plus there are three bars and two restaurants as well as a hot tub, steam rooms, and saunas. Guests looking for a pool should consider Hanoi Tirant Hotel -- rates are lower, though decor isn't quite as stylish.

12

Vinpearl Luxury Nha Trang

Nha Trang, Vietnam

Set on a private island off the shore of downtown Nha Trang, the four-and-a-half-pearl Vinpearl Luxury Nha Trang's stunning landscaping and neoclassical interiors enhance its beachfront location. Its 84 spacious, romantic rooms have handsome bathrooms with elegant slipper bathtubs and walk-in rainfall showers, and private plunge pools on secluded patios. Stunning spa treatment rooms are housed in thatched huts on stilts over the sea. The gym is similarly set, but it could use more equipment. Rates are all-inclusive, and meals, including the breakfast buffet, get good reviews. Guests get free entry to the nearby water amusement park, and airport transfers -- as well as transport from the mainland by speedboat or cable car -- are also included. For a similar level of luxury on the mainland, travelers could also consider the Evason Ana Mandara Nha Trang.

13

Banyan Tree Lang Co

Cu Du, Phu Loc District, Vietnam

The 49-villa Banyan Tree Lang Co is a luxury resort situated in the foothills of the Truong Son Mountains overlooking the South China Sea. It's in the middle of nowhere, but for many guests, that's the appeal. Villas are decorated in an elegant modern Vietnamese style and include gorgeous bathrooms with deep soaking tubs and walk-in showers. All have private pools with whirlpools, as well as butlers. Dining ranges from Italian to Vietnamese, and there are more options (and a kids' club) at Angsana Lang Co next door. The large outdoor pool overlooks the beach, and activities are plentiful for guests who get too relaxed. Rates here are high, but for travelers who don't mind paying for luxury, it's an excellent choice. Prices are lower at sibling Angsara Lang Co.

14

Park Hyatt Saigon

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

With world-class service, elegant rooms with colonial decor and wonderful amenities, a top-notch spa, and an outdoor pool, the 224-room Park Hyatt Saigon is one of the top luxury hotels in Ho Chi Minh. Restaurants, while pricey, serve tasty Vietnamese and Italian cuisine, and the hotel’s two bars are popular among guests and non-guests alike. The InterContinental Asiana Hotel and the Reverie have more opulent rooms in a more contemporary style, but for a taste of old Saigon, the Park Hyatt is one of the best.

15

Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An

Dien Ban, Vietnam

The Nam Hai Hoi An is a 100-villa luxury resort on gorgeous Ha My Beach between Hoi An and Da Nang. This is one of the region's most elegant resorts, incorporating contemporary design with traditional Vietnamese touches. Spacious villas come with private terraces and some even have private plunge pools right on the beach. Other features include two restaurants and a bar, three pools, tennis, and loaner bicycles. The full-service spa features pavilions over a lagoon, and kids have their own activity villa and game room. Rates here match the hotel's exclusive air, though there are lots of nice freebies like cocktail hours and breakfast. Those looking for a taste of luxury with a cheaper price tag should consider Sunrise Hoi An Beach Resort, though its style isn't as impeccable.
