Located on a wide tree-lined avenue in central Ho Chi Minh City, Sofitel Saigon Plaza occupies a large, multi-story building that was built in 1998 and renovated in 2012. The spacious lobby is covered in dark-brown marble, and gets lots of natural light thanks to large floor-to-ceiling windows and an atrium ceiling. Striking wooden columns spiral up to the ceiling, and a long semicircle reception counter covered in light wood adds to the sweeping effect. A few brown leather armchairs and round tables provide some seating, and multiple potted plants add a touch of green to the large corporate spaces. In contrast to the bright and light-filled lobby area, the hotel's hallways and elevators are done up in dark tones that several past guests find gloomy and somber. The hotel's central location and high-end amenities make it popular with both leisure and business travelers.

Sofitel Saigon Plaza's spacious guest rooms start at a reasonably generous 325 square feet, and are decorated in an elegant contemporary style with a color palette of white, gray, and black, with splashes of bright purple that keep the rooms from feeling too generic. Walls are painted a soft gray, and floors are partially covered with dark hardwood and black carpets with purple floral motifs. The elegant lamp shades are also purple, while the bedside tables are a matching mauve and headboards are covered in black faux leather. A few hanging Vietnamese wire lanterns in black add an interesting decorative accent, as do black-and-white framed prints on the walls. All rooms have air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs with DVD players, well-stocked minibars, electric kettles, and safes. The large bathrooms have gray-and-black tiling and are fitted with rectangular vessel sinks, shower/tub combos, and magnifying mirrors. Lanvin toiletries are provided.

The Luxury Rooms offer a few luxurious and notable extras: Bose CD players, iPod docks, Illy espresso machines, and rainfall showerheads. These rooms also come with access to the Club Sofitel Lounge, offering free breakfast, and snacks and drinks throughout the day. The Prestige Suites include all of the perks offered in Luxury Rooms and add separate living rooms, separate walk-in showers and tubs in the bathrooms, Bose Home Cinemas, and even butler service. 

As a luxury hotel, Sofitel Saigon Plaza offers several notable features, the highlight of which could be its rooftop swimming pool. White patio furniture and several padded loungers and umbrellas circle the pool and whirlpool here, where guests can look out over the city skyline.

Mezz is the Sofitel's buffet restaurant serving a variety of Asian and international dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including imported French gourmet products, such as cheese. The Boudoir Lounge serves lunch, coffee, desserts, and snacks, as well as drinks and cocktails, and is open throughout the day. The Poolside Bar on the 18th floor offers scenic city views, and serves light snacks and drinks. The hotel's generous buffet breakfast costs extra but includes a variety of breakfast items, including Vietnamese pho, French crepes, cheeses, sausage, and egg dishes. The other on-site restaurant -- L'Olivier -- serves authentic Provencal cuisine for lunch and dinner. The hotel also offers 24-hour room service and there's a gourmet shop located on the ground floor selling breads and pastries, and luxury food products.

The hotel also offers wellness services including a sauna, and massage treatments. There's also a well-equipped fitness center with treadmills, stationary bikes, and weight-training machines.

For meetings, conferences, and other events, there are eight meeting rooms equipped with modern audiovisual equipment. Business travelers can also make use of the business center, equipped with three computers and printers. Wi-Fi is available for free throughout the hotel.
