Staying true to its name, the Ionis Art Hotel is filled with Greek and modern art. The three-story hotel’s cheerful peach exterior and arched passageways keep in harmony with the Mediterranean beach scene in Laganas. Whimsical Greek sculpture and contemporary paintings add pops of modernity to the classically designed lobby, with dark brown furniture, leather sofas, chandeliers, and cream curtains. A spiral staircase with gold railings leads up to the rooms and hallways, which are elegant with gold trim and more glass-encased artwork. The party atmosphere at the hotel begins in the morning with music at the pool area, which borders the neighboring hotel’s pool. The deck offers plenty of plastic white lounge chairs (without cushions) and blue-and-white-striped umbrellas. There are also bright yellow chairs and tables, enhancing the summery vibe. Pool toys, brought by guests, are allowed.

The main draw of the Ionis Art Hotel is the central location to the bars and restaurants in Laganas. The hotel is located in the middle of the happening nightlife scene on the Greek island of Zakynthos, or Zante. Attached to the hotel are a mini-market, and chicken and pizza restaurants where guests receive a discount. A McDonald's and souvenir vendors are on the block, along with the Laganas Fun Train, which travels into Zante Town. A narrow beach, where travelers can depart on boat trips, is two minutes away on foot. Driving to Zakynthos International airport takes about 15 minutes. Zakynthos -- with the historical Venetian Castle -- takes about 15 to 20 minutes by car.

The feng shui is in balance in Twin, Double, and Triple Rooms, as Asian decor balances out Greek art. Design inspiration comes from Japan and China, with pops of red and leopard. Triple Rooms have a more classic style, with traditional artwork and muted colors. In every room, the overall look is a bit simple, and occasionally slightly dated. Bathrooms are clean and standard, with shower/tub combos and basic beige tile. All rooms have balconies and iPhone docking stations. There are also flat-screen TVs, safes, and mini-fridges for a fee. Rooms overlooking the main strip can get noisy. 

The stylish main restaurant, where guests can have breakfast, is decorated with swirl-patterned chair cushions, bas-relief sculptures, and a flat-screen TV. The lobby bar is quite red, including the shiny bar stools; elegant cream-toned contemporary chairs and wood tables near a flat-screen TV provide more seating options. The Internet corner -- with two PC computers -- is nestled by the bar. A terrace is furnished with a pool table and basic black patio furniture that overlooks the pool area. At the lively pool snack bar, guests can have ice cream in a setting decorated with neon green lamps, wicker chairs, and more swirl-pattern touches. Vouchers are available for discounts at the chicken and pizza restaurants in the building.
