Marina Bay Hotel
17 Culver Parade

The 39-room Marina Bay Hotel is a family-run, budget hotel with an excellent position overlooking the picturesque beach of Sandown Bay. Interiors are a bit dated in places, but rooms are clean, with modern bedding and adequate amenities; some offer sea views. There is live evening entertainment and a full English breakfast, Wi-Fi, and on-site parking are all free of charge. Rates are usually competitive given the beachfront location, though travelers may also want to consider the Tarvic 2 and the Wight Montrene.

Melville Hall Hotel
Melville Street

The 30-room Melville Hall Hotel is an adult-only spa hotel set in a residential area of the Sandown resort, half a mile from its sandy beach. While there's plenty to be positive about -- ample spa facilities, free cooked breakfast, and some charming period details -- much of the property feels dated with some parts in need of a refresh. However, the mood is relaxing and rates surprisingly competitive for what you get -- if you don't get stuck with a tiny room.

Luccombe Hall Hotel
8 Luccombe Road

The 29-room Luccombe Hall Hotel is a mid-range, family-run property set on a cliff top overlooking the beautiful Sandown Bay in the southeast of the Isle of Wight. The hotel offers superb views and the charming resort of Shanklin is a short stroll away. There is direct footpath access to the beach -- though beware of the 155 steps back up. Spa and leisure amenities are plentiful for this type of hotel (there is an indoor pool and game room for the kids) and gardens are lush and well-maintained. Rooms are homey but, like other parts of the hotel, can feel a little dated -- especially the bathrooms. Overall, however, you'd be hard-pressed to find better views and more impressive facilities at these rates.
