Art Deco and contemporary details mingle at this elegant and inviting luxury escape. On-site features like three restaurants, a whirlpool, steam bath, and two infinity pools (including a freshwater one with submerged lounge chairs) create a laid-back luxury atmosphere. This is a romantic setting for couples, and while families are also welcome, they're not as common at this hotel as others in the area.

The 313-room Sheraton Gran Canaria Salobre Golf Resort is a quiet luxury property that caters to golfers and couples. In addition to two scenic 18-hole golf courses, this property also has seven pools, four restaurants, a spa, and a fitness center with group classes. Rooms are have understated contemporary style, and great amenities such as free Wi-Fi, Sheraton’s signature mattresses, furnished balconies, and deep soaking tubs. The hotel is nestled on a mountainside a 15-minute drive from the nearest town, but there is free shuttle service to a beach club on beautiful Maspalomas Beach, complete with a plunge pool and services. 

The Lopesan Villa del Conde is more than a sprawling resort -- it is an entire village. Designed to resemble a traditional Canarian town, the property has cobblestone paths weaving through its several buildings, gurgling fountains in sunny squares, and manicured gardens. The hotel's 561 classic rooms have balconies and modern amenities; some with great sea views. An indoor/outdoor spa features hydrotherapy pools (including a floatation pool), massage cabins, and saunas. The resort’s five outdoor pools are always busy, but the favorite spot here is the infinity-edge pool, offering ocean views and a quieter vibe.

The Bohemia Suites and Spa is an adults-only luxury boutique hotel in Playa del Ingles, roughly 200 yards from the beach. The lush El Siam Spa offers a full array of Thai-influenced bodywork and treatments. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with royal palms, exotic flower gardens, and high privacy hedges that make the pool feel perfectly remote. Rooms and common areas are designed in luxe high style, with bright furniture and atmospheric lighting (that some find a bit overwhelming). The health club features a sauna, steam room, and cold plunge pool, and yoga and Pilates classes are offered on-site. There are two restaurants (one on the rooftop) and two freshwater pools (one with underwater music).

Housed in one of Las Palmas’ most iconic buildings, the 202-room Santa Catalina is an upscale property full of classic charm. It may not be as luxurious as it used to be and rooms feel dated and a tad spartan to some, but few hotels in Gran Canaria are as stately as this. Off the lobby is Bar Carabela, the hotel’s elegant and cozy piano bar -- popular for quiet nightcaps -- with plush velvet armchairs and dark wood details. There is a relaxing pool, a spa, and a gym, but the standouts here are the restaurants, including acclaimed La Terraza and Los Patios, which serves a wonderful free breakfast in a cute courtyard. 

Bright and breezy, minimalist and mod, the Riu ClubHotel Gran Canaria is an all-inclusive seafront property in Meloneras. The 639 contemporary rooms have stylish decor, balconies or terraces, and plenty of modern comforts. A quartet of restaurants and three bars include Las Dunas, which has live cooking stations, and After Hours, a late-night bar. With five swimming pools (one of which is adults only) and a spa, there are plenty of chances to relax. There is no swimmable beach on site, but several can be reached in five to 15 minutes on foot. 

The 1,077-room Lopesan Costa Meloneras is a palatial resort on the southern edge of Gran Canaria Island surrounded by restaurants, bars, and other hotels. All rooms are large, marble-floored, and come with soaking tubs and balconies, but views vary and some of the decor looks cheap. An infinity-edge swimming pool, 13 bars and restaurants, and Himalayan salt cave are luxe additions. The hotel and its massive spa offer an extraordinary amount of services, but extra charges add up quickly, making this upper-mid-range property a pricey option.
