1. Mandarin Oriental

Central Park view from Mandarin Oriental, New York/Oyster

Though it’s a block away from the park, the 54-story Mandarin Oriental gets great views of Central Park due to its spot on Columbus Circle. Guests looking for a room with an incredible view should book a Central Park View Suite or a Premier Central Park View Room, though the accommodations on the other side of the building have excellent vistas of the Hudson River. You don’t have to be a guest to see Central Park from above, though. Visitors can dine at Asiate on the 35th floor.

2. JW Marriott Essex House New York

Located on the south side of Central Park, this Art Deco icon was built in 1931 and today has 515 rooms, some of which overlook the park. To ensure they receive a room with a view, guests can book the Central Park Suite. The ground-floor restaurant South Gate looks onto the edge of the park, but the best views are certainly from above.

3. The Pierre, a Taj Hotel

This classic New York hotel offers a glimpse into New York’s glamorous past — and panoramic views of Central Park, if you book a ParkView Room or a Signature Park View room. Many of the high-end suites, from the 1,100-square-foot Park Suite to the 2,000-square-foot Tata Presidential Suite, also offer park vistas. Guests are welcome to book residential stays of 30 days or more.

4. Park Lane Hotel

North-facing rooms at this luxury hotel on 59th Street offer uninhibited views of the park. For non-guests, similar views can be found at the grand Park Room Restaurant, which features floor-to-ceiling windows and is open for breakfast and lunch.

5. The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park

Joining the slew of high-end hotels that line the south side of Central Park is the Ritz-Carlton. The ritzier of the two Ritzes in New York, this property overlooks plenty of greenery, which can be seen from its Deluxe Parkview and Park View Rooms, as well as most of its suites. Some City View Guest Rooms offer partial views of the park.

6. The Sherry-Netherland

Like many of the other hotels on this list, the Sherry-Netherland makes sure guests know what view to expect via its room names — you’ll want to book the Park View Room to ensure the best vistas. When this building opened in 1927, it was the world’s tallest apartment hotel.

7. West Side YMCA

Who says you need to splurge in order to have Central Park views? Guests at the West Side YMCA, a hostel, are treated to the same vistas as guests paying three times the price — or more — at other properties. That being said, guests should not expect luxury, though the room rate does include access to the YMCA’s gym and pools.

8. The Plaza

Perhaps the most iconic hotel along Central Park, the Plaza saw many of its park-facing rooms converted into residential space in 2008, so guests will likely have to splurge for a suite in order to get those iconic views.
