Twinpalms Phuket is one of the most stylish and party-focused five-pearl options in Phuket. This boutique property is centered around a gorgeous swimming pool with a poolside bar. Surin Beach is reached by crossing a footpath through an empty field, which is slightly inconvenient, but it does mean that the party and drinking scene found at the property's two beach clubs doesn't filter over to the luxurious rooms. Most rooms have plunge pools or direct access to a semi-private lagoon pool, along with free Wi-Fi and furnished outdoor spaces. An on-site spa, modern fitness center, and chic restaurant round out the upscale touches at this intimate, 97-room hotel.

For an ultra-hip, exclusive, and millennial-at-heart Maldivian experience, the five-pearl W Retreat & Spa Maldives is the place. Its 75 large and trendy rooms -- many of which sit over the ocean -- come along with a picture-worthy lagoon and beach, small-but-lively pool, casual gourmet restaurants, chic bars, and the Maldives' only underground club (with a resident DJ, no less). But being this cool comes at a price, so be prepared to shell out for the resort's many, high-quality features from dining and drinks to private yacht hires and solo trips to the W's own exclusive island.

The luxury, 155-room TS Suites Leisure Seminyak Bali is a lively property near the beach and nightlife, with a party atmosphere and a huge array of on-site features. For starters, it offers a 24-hour rooftop pool and bar, 12 restaurants, a modern fitness center, and a nightclub. The trendy guest rooms have deep soaking tubs and include free minibar items; rooftop villas are also available.

The trendy and modern Nikki Beach Resort is one of Koh Samui's hottest hotels and party spots. Located right on a private stretch of beach in Lipa Noi, on the island's western shore, the lively luxury resort was completely renovated in early 2014, and has two pools, one of which is open to hotel guests only. While the hotel's DJ-mixed, buffet-fueled Sunday brunches are renowned for their party atmosphere, the resort is relaxing during the rest of the week, with spacious rooms and villas with private terraces, cooking classes and movie nights, bicycles and kayaks to borrow, and spa treatments. Note that the restaurant and bar are expensive for the area and quality offered.

A fun boutique hotel with 188 urban- and music-themed rooms, the Galleria 10 Hotel is popular with hip young travelers, especially couples. Located in Bangkok's trendy Sukhumvit neighborhood, it has two restaurants and bars that are popular with scene-y locals: one on the rooftop, next to the pool, with panoramic city views, and the other on the ground floor, where the popular daily breakfast buffet is served (for a fee). There's also a small rooftop fitness center, but no spa. Specialty rooms include extra perks like free breakfast, free drinks at a nearby blues bar, and free souvenirs. The hotel is within walking distance of nightlife, one of Bangkok's luxury malls, and both a skytrain and subway station.

On one of Bangkok's busiest streets in one of its busiest neighborhoods, the upscale, 297-room Aloft Bangkok has a buzzy atmosphere, great transport connections, and access to a plethora of dining and nightlife options. The well-maintained rooms are unfussy, with king beds or double queens, and basic bathrooms, plus free Wi-Fi. The hotel's restaurant and its bar/nightclub are both justifiably popular. Light sleepers may wish to request rooms on higher floors, as street noise can be considerable. 

Located on the southeastern shores of Koh Samui and a short drive north of popular Lamai Beach, Beach Republic The Residences is a luxurious and modern oceanfront resort that attracts tourists and holiday-goers of all kinds. Its spacious suites and villas have fully equipped kitchens and private patios, and the villas all have private pools and spacious living and dining areas, making them popular with families, groups of friends, and couples. Throw in a lively beach club, two oceanfront pools with a resident DJ, a quality (if pricey) Mediterranean and Thai restaurant, and a serene spa with traditional Asian-inspired treatments and it's easy to forgive the property’s location outside the action. If you do want to get into town, The Residences offers a free shuttle to and from Lamai, just 10 minutes away.

The 17-story W Seoul Walkerhill is a trendy and luxurious four-and-a-half-pearl property overlooking the Han River. The 252 modern rooms have retro designs including round beds and bathtubs, and egg-shaped chairs. Suites feature living/dining rooms and the Penthouse has a kitchen. Three restaurants serve international fare and the hip bar offers a live DJ, but the bar is the only area of the hotel with free Wi-Fi. To stay fit there are a modern gym, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools, and driving range. Meeting spaces are also available, along with 24-hour concierge service.

Debuting as one of the hippest kids on the block, the upscale and fresh-faced OZO Colombo opened its doors in 2014. The uber-contemporary, 14-floor hotel is full off large floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning panoramic views, 158 chic rooms with snazzy amenities, a rooftop infinity pool deck, nightclub lounge, small but decked out gym, 24-hour reception and snack bar, and daily happy hours with unparalleled sunset views. While it attracts all types, the vibe is best for younger couples and groups of friends who want a "sexier" Sri Lankan vacation. 

With its signature blue-lit rooms and scene-y rooftop pool, the Dream Bangkok is part of the hip Dream chain. One of the city's original concept hotels, the Dream has 195 modern rooms, a Thai-fusion restaurant with neon lighting, and a lively bar with a popular happy hour that attracts locals and guests alike. In addition to a luxury spa and state-of-the-art fitness center, there's also a complimentary tuk tuk shuttle to a major nearby shopping center with public transportation connections. Regular events are held at the bars, including salsa lessons, live music, and DJ sessions. It’s a bit further from Sukhumvit Road than other hotels, but the surrounding area is pleasant, with plenty of restaurants and other hotels. 

The 409-room luxury Angsana Laguna Phuket is part of a large complex of four- and five-pearl resort hotels on northwest Phuket's Bang Tao Bay. The resort's location is removed from the legendary island nightlife, but highlights include an enormous freeform pool that meanders throughout the sprawling grounds, as well as a beautiful beach club that plays music all day and becomes a nightclub every night. Rooms are spacious, modern, and airy, with stylish bathrooms, beautiful views, and a luxe vibe, but guests should expect to pay extra for rollaway beds and breakfast.

The four-pearl Kee Resort and Spa is a party haven in the heart of Patong -- near the beach and Bangla Road -- with a lagoon-style pool, a swim-up bar, rooftop dining, cocktails, a spa, fitness center, and a youthful vibe and clientele. Rooms come with flat-screen TVs, balconies, poolside terraces, and sleek decor. 

The Park New Delhi is a contemporary four-pearl hotel located at the southern edge of Central Delhi's Connaught Place, within a short walk of plenty of bars, restaurants, shops, and attractions. The overall vibe is contemporary, though the common areas are overall better looking than the 220 rooms, all of which include lovely marble bathrooms featuring big walk-in showers, though decor is somewhat underwhelming in most. The hotel is home to trendy bars, a great restaurant, and a popular pool area that hosts regular daytime pool parties in summer months. There's also an upmarket spa, a modern fitness center, and three event spaces for meetings and parties.

One of the oldest hotels on Dubai's busy Sheikh Zayed Road, the Crown Plaza might look a little dated compared to the other upscale, high-rise hotels that surround it, but it makes up for it with its 13 restaurants and bars, impressive meeting and events spaces, an outdoor pool, free Wi-Fi, and a welcoming atmosphere. Something of a Dubai institution, the hotel is usually packed with a variety of guests who run the gamut of age and cultural backgrounds. Considering its offerings, the hotel is also one of the more affordable high-end options on the block and is within walking distance of the metro and just a short ride from malls, museums, and the beach.

Shinjuku Granbell Hotel is a large, multi-story upscale property with 380 rooms and suites, situated in the middle of the vibrant nightlife district of Shinjuku. The vibe here is contemporary and hip, with designer interiors, vibrant decorative murals and artwork, and a trendy rooftop bar. Rooms feature luxurious bathrooms, and come with espresso machines, iPod docks, kitchenettes, and outdoor showers, but lower-priced rooms can be cramped. On-site features include a restaurant, cafe, bar, art gallery, and free Wi-Fi throughout, but there's no pool, spa, or fitness center.

This upscale resort is made up of 33 low-rise villas containing 195 rooms. It has a private beach, which is surrounded by the hotel's 15 restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. The on-site spa offers an extensive list of treatments, and there's also a modern fitness center and tennis courts. Guests can choose from three pools surrounded by lush greenery, including a kids' pool. Guest rooms are spacious, with elegant, contemporary decor, though they feel a bit bland decorated in generic neutral hues. But the spaces offer plush, comfortable bedding and an array of modern comforts like large flat-screen TVs, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. Numerous on-site dining and entertainment options include popular clubs and bars, which attract a young clientele.

Open since 2013, this well-managed resort close to the airport has 140 rooms, either along the shore or overwater on stilts (reached via a lengthy jetty). Thailand-based Centara has two properties in the Maldives, both known for offering luxury accommodations at competitive prices, and this particular one is aimed at young couples (no guests under the age of 12 are allowed). It’s not the prettiest island or best house reef for snorkeling, but its service is exceptional, a rarity at this price point. The buffet serves a wide mix of European and Asian cuisines, while three a la carte restaurants (Thai, Italian, and Middle Eastern) and three bars keep the mainland fun and lively; both half-board and all-inclusive rates are on offer. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, DVD players, bathrobes, and 24-hour room service, but no umbrellas on the private villa decks -- and it will get hot in the afternoon sun. Luckily there are tons of water-based activities including an outstanding dive center for newbies. Wi-Fi is free. 

There is no question that Hues Boutique Hotel is one of the most stylish stays in Dubai's Deira neighborhood, but its inconvenient distance to the metro and unattractive surrounding block make it a tough sell. For those willing to drive or take a taxi, the airport and Financial Centre are less than 10 minutes away, and the hotel has a spa, rooftop pool, and high-energy nightclub. Rooms are bright and contemporary, and there are a number of dining options on-site.
