Hotel Canyelles Platja

Canyelles Platja occupies a contemporary three-story building with balconies that run the length of the structure. The interiors have a fresh, modern look, and a few warm Mediterranean-inspired accents that include wood grain reception counters and a sea-blue accent wall. The modern-looking lobby area is flooded with natural light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows and white, shiny tile floors. The vibe here is chic yet unpretentious, and cozy wicker armchairs with white cushions in the lobby area add a relaxed, beachy look to the decor. Overall, it's a popular summer getaway for leisure travelers looking for a beachside break.

Set on the seafront of Catalan's Costa Brava, Canyelles Platja is directly opposite a scenic sandy bay, and just a minute's walk from the beach. This is a quiet area located outside the city of Roses, but there are many restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops in the immediate vicinity. The closest airport is located in the nearby city of Girona, about an hour away.

Guest rooms here are simply and elegantly furnished in a clean, modern style characterized by sleek wooden floors, high ceilings, and a color palette of soft grays and beiges offset by a black accent wall. White furniture and contemporary-style floor lamps complete the modern look. Rooms have private balconies (some with lovely views) and single sofa beds, and all come equipped with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and mini-fridges (but no minibars). Bathrooms are done up in marble tiling with chic granite counters, and are well-equipped with spacious walk-in showers, hairdryers, magnifying mirrors, and free toiletries. Sea-facing rooms offer scenic sea views, while others look out on a less inspiring wall. 

Canyelles Platja offers a few decent parks, including a free, buffet-style continental breakfast with a selection of breads and pastries, cheese, cold cuts, jams, and fruit. Draulic is the on-site restaurant for lunch and dinner, and offers sea views. There's also a nice bar just off the lobby area, as well as a beach bar for drinks light meals -- The Sloop -- that's open during the summer months and located right on the beach. 

The hotel also offers a swimming pool, but it's a bit too small to swim laps in, and the sun deck is crowded with deck chairs, tables, and chairs. The small but light-filled fitness center is equipped with only a few fitness machines including a treadmill, stationary bicycles, an elliptical trainer, a bench press, and free weights. The beach is easily accessed via the hotel's own tunnel, and there's a shower and toilet area available for guests. Parking is provided, but it's expensive. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. Pets are welcome at the hotel at no extra charge.
