Best Western Plus Peak Vista Inn & Suites

This four-story Best Western Plus, which debuted in fall 2014, has some homey, rustic touches that give its otherwise ho-hum chain-hotel decor a lift. Arriving guests pass under natural stone columns that support a two-story portico, and there's more natural stone inside used for the front desk and a small, contemporary fountain. The lobby is bright and cheerful, with lots of windows and numerous photos of spectacular Western landscapes. A mix of wood laminate and striking gray carpeting cover the floors, and plenty of modern furniture provides comfy places to relax or work on laptops. Just off the lobby is a spacious breakfast room, with granite tables and padded chairs, including some high-backs around a tall communal table. The hotel has a relaxed and quiet vibe, and is frequented by a mix of leisure and business travelers.

The Best Western Plus is located in a busy commercial area with a few other hotels just off Interstate 25, north of downtown Colorado Springs (a 12-minute drive). Some full-service restaurants are within five-minute walk, and several more are an even shorter drive away. The Garden of the Gods, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Olympic Training Center are within 15-minute drives, and the landmark Broadmoor Hotel and its convention facilities is 18 minutes away by car. Pike’s Peak Cog Railway Station and the Colorado Springs Airport are roughly 25-minute drives. Denver International Airport typically takes 70 minutes to reach by car, depending on traffic conditions.

Guest rooms remain fresh from their 2014 debut. They're tidy with some nice decorative touches for a mid-range hotel, such as padded seating areas under the windows and granite tops on the amber-finish wood furniture. They also have tasteful floral-themed artwork and a pleasant color palette that includes light-gray accent walls and bolster pillows atop bright-white duvets. Bed throws and square-patterned carpeting have complimenting light-brown and beige tones. Standard (Double Queen) rooms contain desk chairs and window benches as the only seating. Deluxe Double Queens add armchairs and ottomans, and larger, studio-style King Suites have sofas and coffee tables in separate seating areas. Flat-screen TVs, microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi are standard amenities, but units lack electric kettles. Bathrooms are a bit small, but they feature granite vanities, excellent lighting, and spacious walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads. The rooms are generally quiet, and many of them offer great views of the nearby mountain ranges. Others overlook the property grounds. 

Features are a highlight at this property, with amenities that cater to the hotel's varied clientele. A free breakfast buffet that includes eggs, sausages, and bacon gets solid reviews from past guests, and while there's no full-service restaurant, there's convenience store on-site that sells a good selection of snacks and sundries. Vending machines also here, and free fruit-infused water is available in the lobby throughout the day. 

The spacious indoor pool and whirlpool is another plus, housed in a space that gets ample natural light, and there's a secluded patio with covered tables and loungers. The fitness center is small, but it’s open 24/7 and it has modern Pro Maxima cardio and strength-training equipment. Other amenities include a business center with two computers and a printer, guest laundry room with one washer/dryer, and valet dry cleaning and laundry.  On-site parking is free, as is Wi-Fi throughout and daily newspapers.
